I'd stick with the Jet City. Mike Soldano designs a great amp with quality boards. He's serious about what he associates his name with. My understanding is that these amps were real world tested before release, which for me is better than being a Beta Tester for a large corporation.

you know it supro. mike is very picky and getting more so as time goes on. his name
is on a lot of great amps with a great track record. hes not gonna support or build junk this far into his career either.

i was thinking supro, i think ole tim here should send his amp up to me and let me put it throught the ringer, you know, a good real world test for good measure.
give it a once over for quality control while im at it.
then, i'll send it over your way with a writen record of my findings and a short list of pro's/con's, so you can see if your findings add up to mine. then when your done
you can the ship it off to tim with our stamps of approval on it and a small charge for our services which will include shipping and handling, no charge for relicing at this time. what do ya think? :P

Well, whichever amp you decide on, it should be worthy of your style of play and the quality of your guitar.

Best of luck.

I have had a Kustom Defender for over a year now and I HATE the bloody thing. It was the only half decent amp available on this tiny island so I went with it but I have hated myself recently for wasting my money. Don't get me wrong I was really happy at first and even posted a YT video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAIjSfcL2MA
It just doesn't cut it at loud volumes - starts to sound quite boxy tbh and I am now pining for my 64 Super that is sat in storage 3500 miles away :( Oh, and the boost switch has broken on it too. I even changed the tubes out for 6L6's but it still sounds crap at high volumes. Oh well. Live and learn - live and learn.

The Bugera v5 is also nice. Whether you like it or you hate it.
I really liked it.

Some nice features like a power attenuator, but the biggest cons are: No 3-Band EQ and you can't get a very high gain.
You would need a distortion pedal.

I'm using my OCD Fulltone in combination with the Bugera and sounds awesome.

The Bugera v5 is at 150$ and the v22 at 250$.

The only difference between the v5 and v22 is the wattage and the standby switch and 3 band EQ if I remember right.

Bugera/Beheringer doesn't really have a really good reputation. Never has. There's a lot better amps for the money or not much more.

Amen to that man...I looked at a (Bugera) V22. Decent sound, until you crank it. Then the overdrive sounds like hail on a tin roof. Horrible and metallic.
To me, Jet City has the best offering quality and sound wise compared to anything in it's price range.

And thanks guys for the comments warning against the Kustom Defender. I really like the tone they have, but clearly are not something I want to risk wasting my money on dependability wise.

I'm assuming my tax refund will be here by Wednesday or Thursday and then I'll be ordering the amp. Everywhere around here has the half-stack and no combo, plus the combo's 100 bucks cheaper from musicians friend right now.

 Not bad. I've got a feeling that I won't find myself using the extension cab for a while. And when it is time to add one I'm gonna pick up a 2x12 cab. That along with the combo should be sufficient for my style in the future. But I am more than confident that the combo will be perfect for right now.

Still no tax cash...I'm only on day 10 of an estimated 8 - 14 days so no surprise. I've been looking around and this video demo really has me jonesing to order up my new Jet City combo.

Nope...No 70's chops for me...lol. I'm more of a beard kind of guy. Nobody jinxed my taxes, the 25th is day 14 and I still won't be surprised if they take longer than that. I'm hoping to get them by Monday though so I can take advantage of the Presidents day sales.
