I bought my Hot Rod Deluxe used for $450. It works and sounds great. If you can find one used at a good price I would recommend it. Just be sure to get the footswitch too.

Supro, forgive my dumb question but your situation brings up an issue I've oft wondered about but never had to deal with personally. I'm guessing you just use a splitter cable when using both cabs and plug into the 8Ω jack, right? Prolly what I would do. But what if you were to use one 16Ω cab and one 8Ω cab? Could they both be plugged in at the same time to their respective jacks? I'm usually a combo guy so I don't know heads very well. (Some of my combos have rivalled heads and cabs for sheer size and power back in the day) Can you use more than one impedance jack at the same time on a head?

I use two Egnater 112 cabs. They're both 16 ohms and have 2 jacks in the cab that brings them to 8 ohms. The Rebel has 4,8 and 16 ohm output jacks. That's a good question though. Maybe I'll ask on their forum or email Nate.

Jet City and the Egnater Tweaker might be in your price range.

There are different levels of Chinese manufacturing. I guess you get what you pay for as anywhere else. I've been gigging the Rebel 20 for over a year with zero problems. I use two 112 cabs in bigger clubs and one in smaller places.

I was really impressed with the Soldano designed Jet City amps. Nothing fancy, just great tone. Guys like Mike Soldano and Bruce Egnater have their names and reputations on the line with these budget amps. Egnater inspects all there amps in the states.

I agree. Jet City and Egnater are putting out some awesome high-quality, low-price stuff these days. For the time being, I'm going with the Jet City. I've been considering many different options, but that's the one I keep going back to, so I'm going to follow my instinct on this one.
Thanks again everyone for the suggestions.

Tim, I'm sure you'll be real happy with it. When I tried them out, I rung them out pretty well and not even a hiccup. Sounded great too.

Well I just looked at musicians friend, and I can get the Jet City combo for $299.99, and a 1x12 extension cab for $150 with free shipping and both are in stock. So as soon as I get the tax money in hand I will be ordering that setup for sure. I personally think that is the best setup for the price and I know it will suit my style perfectly.

Quick question for anyone that can help me out real quick...For hooking up an extension cab do I use a speaker cable?
I always used a reg. instrument cable in the past with my cheapo Crate half stack and that "worked".
But my question is what is the right way to hook it up, instrument or speaker cable?
Thanks again friends.

I use 14 gauge cables. Seems fine for a 20 watt amp. Speaker cables are two core cable where each stranded core is of an equal gauge, We all know that a guitar cord, has one insulated stranded positive wire in the middle of a braided shield serving as the ground connection. A speaker cable of good quality delivers the amp’s output equally to the speaker’s positive and negative terminals, the unequal design of a guitar cord introduces a lot of unwanted capacitance to the connection, that can create an impedance mismatch between amp and speaker. The thin positive wire in a guitar cord has a much lower gauge than you would normally want to use to make an output connection, especially from a powerful amp. The impedance mismatch can strain the amp’s output tubes and output transformer, and will severely alter your tone as a result; if that thin “hot” wire inside the guitar cord gets too hot and shorts, you could blow your output transformer entirely, necessitating an expensive repair.

So moral of the story is, use speaker cable.

+1 for speaker cable. Also, keep it short 3-5'. Any more is overkill and could become a problem when packing up and setting up.

Thanks guys. I'll order up a 3' monster speaker cable as well. The amp, cab, and cable is only gonna run me $461 from MF. Free shipping and no sales tax. Can't beat that.

WayCool...Yeah, I am an impulsive shopper 99% of the time, so as soon as I knew the money was on the way I started shopping around and of course asking you guys for your respected opinions. This way I have my mind made up before I have the money and just run to the store and spend it on something I end up regretting. I wish I could just go pick up the amp the day I have the money, but the best deal I've been able to find so far has been online, so I'm going to have to wait even longer once I get the money :( . I'll be sure to do a nice review of the amp once I get it.

Thanks everyone for your input. You have all been instrumental in helping me make this decision. That's what I love about these forums. 8)

Just read it and replied to it. Looks like it's in great condition, and sounds like a good deal.
