It was 47 years ago tonight that The Beatles appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show and that I decided then and there I'd become a musician. Thanks to John and George especially I discovered the one thing that brought so much good into my life and for that I'll forever be indebted to them.I guess I'm one of millions.

Y'all are remembering the wrong night man.

February 9, 1961 at the Cavern in Liverpool was the first Beatles gig.

50 years ago today.

The Ed Sullivan show was 1964.

He said 47 years ago (which would be Febuary 9th, 1964) He saw them on Ed Sullivan. not their first gig (which should have been their last IMO) I never figured out the draw of the Beatles other than the same thing that draws young girls to that Bieber kid.

I know the last part of that will inspire dislike of me. If they inspired you that is truely great, I'm sure what inspires me might possbily give you the same reaction.

There is a Beatles cover group called The Fab Faux that does an incredible cover of side 2 of Abbey Road,I believe it's on You Tube.Another great Beatles tribute band is Rain these guys are incredible and the lead guitarist even can do Clapton's solo in While My Guitar.... absolutely note for note and that's no minor accomplishment.I believe Rain has some videos on You Tube and some for sale also.I got my first guitar for my 10th birthday one month after seeing The Beatles and haven't stop playing since.

One of my firends saw Rain perform at one of the local casinos this past weekend. He was a little skeptical before going but come Monday had nothing but good things to say about the show. He described the show as a chronological journey through the Beatles career.

Yep - I was playing mostly "Ventures" instros until that performance...a month later I was wearing 'beatle boots' and starting to sing!

Beatle boots!...now there's an interesting artifact.
I remember how my dad hated them with their "long hair"....and I also remember him always calling Pat Boone,"sissy britches" because he wore white shoes.
Oh the good ol' days when a Beatle haircut could get you an @%% whoopin' here in the South in 1964. :)
