Hello,
I need some advice on storing my guitars that are kept in their cases. I live in St. Louis and right now they are in the basement that is very dry and about 58 degrees. This summer it will be hot with high humidity. I was thinking of storing them upstairs. My question is, what are the ideal conditions, summer and winter, for our guitars?
Thanks

Ideally you want to keep them in a climate controlled room at 45% humidity and 70 degrees. You can fluctuate from this a little, but a good rule is keep them in a room that you feel comfortable in (climate-wise). Basements, attics, garages.......in time these areas can ruin your instruments. If nothing else, toss them in a closet in your bedroom. Several vintage guitars have survived to our modern day by living their lives under beds too! :)

I keep mine on stands in my "play" room. I have a humidifier going in heating season, my humidity stays around 45-50. In the summer, I don't really have any problems.
I live in Mountain Home, Arkansas, (about 4 hrs south) So our weather is similar.
Humidifiers are not vert expensive, so hustle down to the Home Depot, and get one

Please put them upstairs. Too cold and dry and lonely down there.

It's good to care for your guitars by implementing proper techniques. More so with solid wood acoustic guitars.
