Thats a good definition :)

Personally, my opinion is that when you have to kill someone to help others- even when they are firing back, Brave may be the best term, but certainly there is nothing heroic about killing human life, regardless of background or beliefs. Especially in todays conflicts.

Saving life without putting anyone elses in danger without much concern for your own would be more on the 'heroic' level.

folks are there so you dont have to be, and giving their lives to keep us/you free. sometimes you have to take a life in order to do so, because that guy is out to take yours and will do so given the opportunity.

Fair call, but there is a difference to our situations here. I live in a neutral country where we have not been directly involved in conflict for many decades. There is no need to keep anyone free or fight for freedom as in my country no-one ever has/tried to violate or take it away in the first place. No terror threats, no nothing. We are a peaceful nation. To put it bluntly, our country reluctantly gets dragged into conflict all over the world. We are obliged to do so as we are a member of the UN. It does bother me when my countrymen seriously injure themselves, suffer psycological trauma or even die in a war/conflict that was not ours to begin with that we get no honour for. Brave I call it, yes. Heroic, not.

However, as we are have a reigning soveriegn- our motherland is violated (just like WW2) it is our duty to serve if so requested as we are a member of the commonwealth. Much like they are obliged to keep us from harm, however- they have never had the need to do so.

Differing opinions. because of the above, we have a lot of ex-pat americans living here post 9/11.. no worries for them, they're friendly people- all they want is a bit of peace & quiet, it's all good :)

i see your point on this. now remember this is a open situation and everbody on equal grounds in the war situation we are talking about from above.

i live in a country that seems to be the world police. i dont honestly know if we put ourselves in that situation or not as it goes back decades. i dont know if anybody on this forum can answer that question with anything other than opinion.
to keep on topic that wasnt a question folks.
when shiot breaks out, war or disaster, we are expected to be there and to provide anything from soldiers, to welfare, funds, food, whatever. as a nation i dont know if its correct to say that we know peace because our military sure doesnt.

"It does bother me when my countrymen seriously injure themselves, suffer psycological trauma or even die in a war/conflict that was not ours to begin with that we get no honour for"

yeah our vietnam vets know that situation better than just about anybody.
seeing that this forum is a music related forum and this very short topic thats kind of off topic, i think this next video can be used for this. i do not mean to offend anybody on here with this video in any way. please forgive me if i do but realize what im using it for before i get beat down for it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3LdMAqU ... re=related

i wonder how many of those men, teenagers, young boys, in this video
are heros? i wonder how many of them in this video knew what they were in for before they got there? how many of them wanted to be there? i wonder how many of them when they got home were spit on in our nations airports? it happened.
i wonder how many of them came home and were able to get jobs right away?
a lot of them couldnt. i wounder how many of them could sleep at night? a lot of them couldnt and still cant. i wonder how many of them came home and took their own lives because they couldnt deal with what they been through or how they were treated when they finally got back home? the list goes on and on. i wonder how many of them got to come home and pick up life as they left it. im willing to place bets.
i wonder how many of them came home period?

"It does bother me when my countrymen seriously injure themselves, suffer psycological trauma or even die in a war/conflict that was not ours to begin with that we get no honour for it".

our soldier did it with honor and still do my friend.

Wow, cool vid! cool old school retro beats but yeah I see the message loud and clear. I really feel for those guys.. well anyone who goes through that really.

On a side note, some WW2 fighter pilots didnt even know how to drive a car properly but they could fly a plane into battle. Useless fact but good to know in a conversation whilst drinking beer with your buddies..

On with it lads, back to topic.

Now here's a hero:

his movies rocked. i do like the new guy as well too though, but hes no chris.
FYI: the glasses that the new guy wears in his movie are the same ones chris wore in his movies. they were given to him by chris's wife. now how damn cool is that huh?

yeah that song and video are old. ive alway liked that song. i think paul did a great job with that. some didnt like it but he ment well indeed.
i didnt know that about the WWll pilots. thats cool info to think about too.
ok guys back to the topic at hand. thank you for the side chat blertles. :)

Well this is all very interesting but I was wondering what this topic has to do with Fender/guitars/music ?

To be fair if the only thing talked about was just Fender gear this forum would be a less interesting place. Nothing like a non-gear related thread every once in a while to spice things up
