Someone who devotes their whole life- be it either in a single act or over a life time, unselfishly for the benefit of the greater good and thinking nothing of it. I see the word thrown around when we talk military& all non-civillian services, which I agree. Just because a soldier was shot at doesnt allways label them a hero IMO. Even if he saved his commrades from being shot. Even if one dies. In war, there are certainly no heroes. Just bloodied battlefields that undiscriminatly divide young men, women & children fighting a cause & that are mourned by their families. Just ordinary lives. I would rather call them victims regardless of rank or civilian. I think it goes far far beyond.

I honestly cant think of too many people who fit my idea of a hero would be.

The young pilots of the RAF during the battle of britain.. it's one thing to save a life, but to literally save a country is quite a feat of bravery.

Here you go...just had to upload it, apparently I had removed the old copy. I was not at all pleased with the recording quality. But my newer songs are much better quality.

I respect your opinion, but certainly disagree with that statement.

Thanks Rick.

Problem with re-mastering is that the sound quality issue I had was converting to mp3. I had the settings all wrong and was uploading to some very small files. Once I figured that out, all my uploads are in 24bit/96k for mp3. And I just stick to wav files for cds.

This song is on my list of re-records as the individual files were lost with my last computer... :x

Thanks Arjay. That song is probably the hardest for me to sing, but it's always been one of my favorites.

To me, some of the gretates heroes are not those who have not necessarily done great or grandiose things, but simple things rising out of everyday life that for various resons have far reaching consequences. Rosa Parks comes to mind as an example. Arrested because she refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white person. Not for any grand notions of freedom and equality for blacks, but simply because she was tired and didn't want to get up. A simple, every day kind of hero, she unintentionally became a nationwide symbol for the equal rights movement.

nice example! :)

I was going to say Nelson Mandela for devoting his life for the same cause & raise the bar for international race relations. I bet he wished he lived like ordinary folk but he fought and fought and not only eventually made a massive difference but became prime minister of his people. To make a difference to many and not a few is heroism. The world would certainly be a backwards place if he did not live..

guys we arent looking for "who" is a hero, we are looking for "WHAT" is a hero.
refusing to give up your seat is far from a hero.

I'm only using Rosa Parks as an example of what I would consider a hero. And I respectfully disagree, what she did was certainly heroic. She went against the status quo even though she knew it would get her in a world of trouble ,and it did, resulting in her arrest. You asked what we thought a hero was, She is a perfect example of what I call the "everyday hero". Not all heroes are soldiers, or police or firemen. Sometimes an ordinary citizen can challenge society's ills by performing an act that can seem simple on the surface, but can change the world.

Heroes to me are like those in Egypt, who rose up against a much more powerful force with great risk of death and destruction to force change.

For those who don't know me too well, I'm in the Navy Special Warfare Community(Special Warare Combatantcraft Crewman personally), and I work with a Combined Joint Special Operations task Force right now. Special warfare from all branches, and people frequently thank us for service and call us heroes and I just don't think that is the case. This is our job, and it gets really ugly sometimes.
