anybody got a good idea for finding local musicians? i'm looking for like minded people who want to play 60's- classic rock- british invasion dance fun types of music.

someone mentioned craigslist to me- not a big fan of the site.

i tried local guitar stores. if i was a young gun, there are tons of guys looking to start a metal band. not for me at age 57.

maybe the fender web site could have a "searching for musicians" type of forum. i would trust the people on the fender site here would be honest- you've always been a great help.

any ideas?

Look up some local music stores that offer instruction and network with the teachers!

I have the same issue as you do, and I am 18. What I am going to try to do is hit open mics and just talk to some people. Who knows right?

Open mic nights and jam nights are often great ways to find people that are interested in the same music as you.

+1 Bandmix.com

I've hooked up with a couple of people using that site.

I've also had some success with craigslist.

Hi Phreddybee, your musical style is right up my alley-too far a commute. Does your community have a local music newspaper that you could advertise in or a free classified ad magazine.A lot of music stores have a musicians forum bulletin board for musicians looking for other musicians, you never know you may find someone that's not into metal or that sort.Often the staff at these stores could point you in the right direction as they have people constantly coming in complaining how hard it is to find a drummer, guitarist etc. so you never know.Just going around to clubs that host jams etc. could prove fruitful anyway best of luck with it.I expect that I'll be looking for like minded musicians in the not too distant future as I'm getting the itch to start playing again.

I have been looking for newbie musicians like me to jam with, but I live in the country and town is 15 miles away, and only has 250 people. A large city is about 110 miles away.
