Mom's no can stand when it's mom's cash paying for it. I guess I was lucky and had parents that didn't care what I did to the stuff I actually paid for myself. As long as I didn't come asking them to replace it.

That is my opinion, which was the question he asked, whether this young man decides to base his decision on my opinion or anyone elses that has replied to this post is entirely up to him and he'll have to live with his decision and the possible backlash from it.

Why People Want To Deface A Beautiful Guitar Is Beyond Me. Your Just Going To Lower The Value When You Ruin The Finish. However I Have One On The Back Plate Only To Protect It From The Button-Zipper When I Wear Jeans.

Well, I'm 34 so if that makes me a kid then okay. I've plenty of those "attitude adjustments" when I was a kid. If I wreaked something they bought me I got one and had to earn the money to replace it If I wanted it replaced. Alhough, as soon as I started working I had to basically support myself. When I was working and buying my things (and paying rent to my parents) They didn't care what I did to the things I bought. If I bought a $100 pair of sneakers, they didn't want to hear I didn't have rent or gas money. Their reply was "I guess you should have bought cheaper shoes" (or whatever the case may be).

Like I said before, RFSU has to decide for himself what he is going to do and live with whatever that decision brings.

well, if i do get a sticker, it'll be something that'll i'll want for a long time. like the peace simbole or something. something that says something about me, to big.
i remember some of you guys last year were talking about getting a sticker that said "i'm not old, your music really does suck!" or something. what happened to that idea

speaking of my blacktop telecaster, if everything goes to plan, my dad should be pre ordering it from sweetwater sound tommorow :) cant wait til it gets here 8)

Riley, let's clear a few things up mate.

Cos I really do believe that having a good home life is the best basis for everything.

Ok you've earnt the money to buy your guitar. But who fascilitated you being able to earn that money? Did your folks give you jobs to do and put the money aside that you would have been paid. To help you save?

Whatever the answer it's not that important. Just wanted to point out that at your age, whether you sweated for the dough or not, your folks will have helped. Even if it's just to provide the work for you to do.

I can tell you from a parents perspective that musical kids are a utter pain. Lord knows what it must be like for non-musical parents. My eldest daughter (who aint far off your age) is shaping up to be quite the singer. To the point that when she sings I stop what I'm doing and listen. It wasn't always like that. I used to record her then threaten to upload the clips to youtube, when she first started singing.
Needless to say, I adjusted my attitude (cos yes sometimes parents do the wrong thing) and decided to encourage her.

Your Mom is probably wanting you to produce all these wonderfull sounds, and focus less on emulating your heroes. I can safely say that she wants you to treat your new expensive guitar with a good deal of respect. It's worth having a chat with her about it and finding out her exact thinking.
You can have as many Tele's as you like, you only get one Mom, when she's gone you won't find any other woman like her, ever.

Onto stickers themselves, cos you need to know the truth.
They won't hurt your guitar in the slightest. They won't ruin the sound of it. Glue residue can be a pain to get off, but a bit of lighter petrol sorts it out. It may hurt a cellulose finish, for future refrence. Your blacktop will have urethane, so thats not a concern.
You will get very bored of looking at them. Take it from someone who's put plenty of stickers on guitars.
The bottom one of these three is my old gig guitar. A sticker from every notable gig. Whether that was sharing a stage with a band I'm a particular fan of. First visit to a different country, or whatever. Kind of a scrapbook of gigs.

Now despite the noble thinking behind the stickers, it's bare. Cos I got fed up of looking at em.
