just need your opinion on stickers on guitars. personally, i'm fine with it, but my mum seems to have something against it, but i'm trying to convince her to let me put a couple of stickers on my blacktop telecaster when i get it, to make the guitar be "mine", ya know?

It may not be ideal.

If you live in your parents house, it is wise to abide by their rules. Because "the dude abides".

Reassure your mother that you only intend to use large bright depictions of low-born women scantily clad.

Try to compromise with your mom. I wasn't really happy when my son put stickers on his guitar, but it is his guitar. I would recommend if you do put them on, stick with them on the pickguard. If you put them on the body then take them off you'll probably ruin the finish. If you stick with them on the pickguard if the stickers mess it up, you can very easily replace it. What ever happens take care of that new guitar.

Do what your mom says!
If she's buying you the guitar then you could atleast have the decency to look after it in a way she see's fit.
I got nothing at all against stickers on guitars. But I can understand that your mom doesn't want you to deface something of value.
See her side a bit eh? Mom's have a hard time of things a lot of the time.

+1!

I'm all for stickering up and personalising your own gear, if it's yours then thats your own choice. However if it was your mum that paid for the gear then she should get a say in it.

A good musician should break his mother's heart.

If you paid for it, do what you want, If your Mom bought it, respect her wishes.
Depending on the adhesive, it may damage the finish if you try to remove it as you get older and think it wasn't such a great idea. If you ever plan to sell it, you'll reduce the value of it if you can't get them off without damaging the finish.

When you see that new blacktop Tele you may not want to put stickers on it. Those things are finished beautifully. I agree if you've just gota do it put em on the pickguard so that you can toss it later.

Stickers on a guitar look naff an usually leave marks wen you decide to remove them, keep your mum happy an stick em on the case instead !
