so driving around yesterday I spotted this little guitar store. Turns out this guy makes his own acoustic guitars, runs an acoustic guitar making class, and can make any repairs on both acoustic and electric guitars. So I asked him about a pickup change on a stratocaster. He tells me $65 for all 3. Compared to Guitar Center who charge me $100. Needless to say I will be going back sometime soon. Very nice guy too. If he sold electric guitar strings there I would be going there more often but he doesn't. However I will be going there for all my acoustic needs. Acoustics he had there were beautiful though. And many weren't even high end brands.

Good find! When you find someone like that, support them, and share the news with your friends...good independents are worth their weight in gold, and it's better to support them instead of seeing them topple because of the "big box" chains.

Finding a good consciencious repair guy/luthier is like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.True artisans who take pride in their work are getting scarce.Independants usually charge less than nation wide chains as they depend solely on repeat business and they don't have to worry about making obscene profits for share holders.Hold on to this guy and give him some free advertising.
