I always liked the creativity he brought to the blues genre.

RIP, GM...you'll be missed. :(

Devastatingly sad news.
I remember back in the 80's, the line about Gary was that if he had an image, he'd be the most influential and successful guitarist out there. And it was true - the man could do it all, could do it as well or better than most, and did it with more passion and intensity than anyone else. To Gary's credit, he never bought into the hype. Whether it was rock, blues, or fusion, he steadfastly kept turning out honest, passionate, working-class music infused with his own insanely over the top guitar work.
We could all learn a lesson about following your heart from Gary. A true guitar player if there ever was one. He will truly be missed.

The news sure shocked me when I heard it yesterday.

I've been a fan since 1978. I don't recall if I picked up his solo album "Back on the Streets" or the Thin Lizzy "Black Rose" album first, I suppose it doesn't matter. It did start a lot of great listening.

I only got to see him perform one time. It was the US leg of his Wild Frontier tour, at Wolfgang's in San Francisco (July 1987). Which reminds me of a Gazza joke I read in Kerrang! magazine around the time: how many ears does Gary Moore have? Three, a left ear, a right ear, and a wild front ear.
