I'm going to Fender Custom Shop so they can built a custom Stratocaster for me. Do you think that a Stratocaster with an H-S-S configuration (Seymour Duncan JB humbucker), gotoh tune-o-matic bridge, and a 24" SCALE NECK would be a good idea ?

Not to be critical ... but I have never known any one to commission a Custom Shop instrument, and need others' random opinions on if it was a good idea or not. Usually, when they place that order, the last opinion they need is mine. So, if you are that unsure, maybe a CS is not the best suit for you. Sorry, just keepin' it real. Just a thought ...

You should be able to answer all your questions at the Custom Shop Dealer, where you' ll find a spec sheet with many options.

I'd have to agree with this assessment. To my way of thinking the principle reason to order a Custom Shop guitar is because you know exactly what you want and are unable to obtain it through conventional means due to it's uniqueness. For example I somehow doubt anybody orders a Custom Shop guitar with exactly the same specs as a bone-stock American Standard. You comission a guitar build to get something specific. No?

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

If you look thru the Fender Product section for Stratocasters and then go to support and look at the specs and schematics, what you describe is quite close to their production line models.
I would advise at this point to play a few different strats for a few years, then you should know exactly what you prefer.

I will not advise you on what Custom Shop Strat you should order simply on the basis of your first post.
Bear in mind that a CS with your own personal specs are expensive anywhere from $3500.00 on up.
Not a decision to be made without a few years of experience in what works or does not work for you.

Patience, you won't regret waiting until the right time.

Custom instruments are carefully dreamed-of, thought-out, coveted plans, not to be taken lightly.

IF you are really happy with the HSS sound, the Stratocaster AND short scale, you might have a winning combo.

Might.

HOWEVER, a 24 inch scale puts MUCH less tension on the strings and the instrument you are describing will NOT sound or play like any Stratocaster you have ever played or heard.

Be careful....

Don't worry, some people need affirmation to make decisions. Some people are followers and need input of others to see what's cool or hip. Some need information of others before they can make an independent decision. Some people have no idea of what they are getting into and want to know from others what the experience is like. If you got a lot of cash and want to stimulate the economy go for it. Don’t take this in a bad way, but I sense there may be a deeper reason you want a custom shop guitar.

Nevertheless, the decision that you make is yours, and will leave you with joy or regret. The best part is you are in command of the choice and get to choose which path to take.
