I've been searching around the internet trying to uncover how and where you can get a custom built electric guitar. I extremely like John Mayers Crashocaster and would like to get a exact replica. If anyone could please post a comment that leads myself in the right direction, Ill be so ever pleased. Thank You!

You need a custom luthier for that type of instrument. This fellow does some outstanding work and built me a very fine guitar to my specifications......

Some exceptional guitars on that site! Never heard of Ron Kirn before, but he clearly knows what he is doing.

What Is The Best Way To Adjust The Truss Rod On A 57 Vhr Ri Strat ? Do You Remove The Neck Or The Pick Guard ? Thanx In Advance.

you should be able to get to the whole screw by removing the pickguard... both ways strings need to be un done so which ever mathod seems the least harmfull to you... just make sure you know how much you need to adjust it by before you take the strings off...

Thanks DR. I Wondered Why There Was No Adjuster At The Top Of The Neck. Since I've Only Had The Guitar Since Last June I Think I'll Leave The New Setup To A Pro. Thanx Again.

In this opinion, a pro setup is THE kindest thing one can do for their guitar.

And themself.

You can do it also without removing the neck. Loosen the 4 screws just enough to lift the neck forward out of the pocket (towards the front of the guitar). This should allow you to clear the body and guard to give you better access to the screw. 1/4 turns at a time.

+3, In your case this is the only option, a neck adjustment requiring truss rod adjustment is best left to a tech, there is also the possibility that your guitar may need something other than what you think. If I was in your situation, I would not attempt it. Truss rod adjustments are critical and not a place where you can experiment if you have not had the repair experience.

As far as the suggestion of loosening the 4 neck screws in order to tilt the neck for access to the rod adjustment.
Are You Mad :?:  That is not the way to do it.
Yes you do need to unscrew the pick guard and carefully move the pickguard towards the bridge to allow access.
But by loosening the neck screws and tilting, the neck is no longer flush and tight in the pocket, thus when you torque on the truss rod to turn it, you will put severe twisting pressure on the neck and the only thing resisting that twisting will be the screw holes in the neck.
That is a recipe for a neck that shifts when tightened back down.
Sorry but a guitar neck is wood, the screws are metal, guess who is going to win that twisting motion, it will not be the neck.
You could do this only if the neck screws were machine/fine threaded and thereby threaded into 4 inserts in the neck. I strongly advise against that method and any tech that suggest that method, take your guitar elsewhere.

Regarding Fender heel truss rods, unless one has many years experience with knowing how much the rod has to be turned one way or the other without pitch string tension on the neck, any disassembly of the guitar in order to manipulate the truss rod is an approximation where with this method, repeated assembly and disassembly are usually required for 'perfect' results. Obviously, the most accurate way to 'perfectly' adjust the rod is with the guitar remaining intact and tuned to pitch. Granted, the cosmetics of the pickguard and possibly the body both immediately in front of and below the rod screw are going to get "reliced" and that's why most manufacturers have moved the adjustment to the nut area. For most, this is a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation. YMMV.

Just be sure if you try it yourself, the screwdriver you use fits the slot with no slop, otherwise you damage the slot.

Mad? No, but I'm often called "angry."

I didn't say tilt the neck, I said lift it out of the pocket. A 57 Reissue design does not provide adequate access to the nut while installed in the body. I think you're over complicating the process, but to each their own level of comfortability.
