I don't get people who say there is no good music these days. There is more than ever. It's not like 10, 15, 20 years ago when you had to actively search for it if you didn't want to deal with the trash MTV and the radio were serving(90s Rap-rock, 80s Butt Rock, etc). It's easy to find great bands, bands that don't compromise because you don't NEED a label anymore. You can make great sounding music in a room with a little more than your gear and a laptop. The arena is dead, the charts are dead, the inudstry is dead, but the music and the artistry is more alive than ever.

Yeah.....and the proof of all the good music these days is simply walk into a music shop and go and stand next to every kid sittin in there playin his dream guitar or any guitar they will let them play and you will find....... and it amazes me still every time i see a kid born in the 80's and 90's are still and the 16 year olds have been since the 80's years playing deep purple, led zepplin, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Etc............ Oh and some of them are playing really modern stuff, 1990's Metalica!!! lol.....So damn true but huh.......

That said White stripes were havin a crack so kudo's too them!!! I bought there album!! years ago.....why are they just gettin known now?? I thought they were old news??

Because these kids haven't found their scene yet-what they will conect with or they don't know how to, and anyways 90% of the people who hang out in music stores are tools who are trying to impress the other tools who hang out there. So they play recognizable riffs to get people to look at them. It's like the guy at the gym who bangs his weights together and screams with every rep, it's just a way to say LOOK AT ME!

maybe we just have differences in musical taste/interest but I dont find ANY new music that is worth listening to. hell even back in 96-2000 rap was still halfway decent . nowadays pretty much all music sucks. all these new bands that people mention as "the best new thing", i cant even sit through 1 minute of a song. sure there is more msuic to choose from nowadays, but I wouldnt necessarily say there is better music to choose from.

I mean I keep hearing this Cage the elephant band is so hot and something special

Anything you hear about on the radio or TV is just the last dying breaths of the mainstream-it's trash. No one needs it. But I guarantee you go to a few local shows, find a internet community that specializes in the music you like and you will be exposed to a ton of great music you would never have known was out there.

they are just getting known now because they simply were not that good. gimmicky, created this "aura" for themselves by their funny way of dressing and odd way of acting. they had a little small cult following and their music wasn't "enough" to touch the masses. not that that is a bad thing, but they never got known because it just wasnt the kind of music the average person can or will listen to, they are one of those groups that has a small cult following like Phish or Widespread panic

Very true, I find it so unfortunate that (well in OZ anyway) The a good majority of people in music shops are such fkn tossers!! But hey whatever blows there hair back huh!!! But whatever you reckon about them which i do agree 70%...... not every kid in the shops are tools though your a tool if you think that, There is a lot of young kids who cant afford the good stuff and so go hang out in music shops to have a go on their dream gear, And thats cool!!! Personally i don't feel comfortable in any music shop, never have, But every time i have listened to kids when i have been in them is the same old school stuff from the 70's 80's and 90's. that i played when i was there age, So it seems there aint much new inspiring young guitarists......Sad really....

Well said i totally agree, I tried to like them just because they were one of the few not following and they had a couple of riffs that were quite powerful and original, But after trying and buying the album i just could not get on board with there stuff most of it was ordinary huh, But here in OZ they are becoming popular now huh.... I think it was like 5 years ago i listened to them....Was it that long ago???.....Faarrrkkk time flys!!!!

agreed. the music industrys f0cked but there is still some really good music. you just have to look for it. i myself found a great rock band, rumspringer, thats the best stuff i've heard thats come out of the nauighties.

if something good doesn't happen with rock music in, or bordering the mainstream in the next 5 years, i agree, the music industry WILL be dead. but that doesn't mean give up (for Negative Creep). you can still play for yourself, and playing for yourself is the best way to express yourself. i, when i get a serious band going, have no interest in how much we get paid, weather we're liked or not, i only care if it best expresses ourselfs.
