In times like these I am often given to the thought that the world needs to create more space for solid waste disposal. However, the number of years necessary to allow the radioactivity to return to normal levels would certainly preclude the timeliness of its use.

Seriously I think the news networks in the US need to have a crash course in geography!

Probably would not have been necessary if they were paying attention to teacher instead of busily texting their friends on their PDA's during geography class. Though I'm sure they could tell you who was up on "American Idol', how many pairs of shoes Kim Kardasian has in her closet, where Rodeo Drive is located, or how and where to find Justin Beiber at a moment's notice.

If the US wanted to bring the full technological capabilities of its military to bear against these yo-yo's the problem is resolvable. We have satellite reconnaisance capabilities that can track a nose hair. That fiasco in Somalia that burned us so badly was simply a function of fighting with one hand behind our backs. That's downside of fighting a guerilla war. Don't know which eggs in the box are bad, and the chickens aren't telling. I'm for fighting wars consistent with the adversary's rules. I have always held in contempt, and considered down right delusional, the idiots who formulated rules of engagement. The hard choice Truman was forced to make with Japan in 1945 was to go to the lowest common denominator with respect to the enemy which was then Japan..... a take no prisoners philosphy was the only way to deal with bullies. Hence, the firebombings of the German cities, Tokyo, and eventually, the utter destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Apologies if I upset any one out there. That's just my take on it.

Do you seriously believe that if the US wanted to bring the fully technological capabilities of its armed naval and airforces to bear against these yo-yo's that the problem couldn't be solved. That fiasco in Somalia that burned us so badly was simply a function of fighting with one hand behind our backs. That's downside of fighting a guerilla war. Don't know which egges in the box are bad, and the chickens aren't telling. A take no prisoners policy is the best way to deal with bullies.

You got it Doc!!!!
Americans today don't want to face the fact that WWII was won by bombing the civilian population of the enemy into submission not just the guys doing the fighting.

Correct. It finally dawned on these military brainstormers that the strategy for the 8th Airforce, if Normandy was to be successful, was to not only cripple the Luftwaffe by drawing them into the new P-51's, but by finally bringing the war home to the very people who allowed that madman and his cronies to lead them down the road to perdition. To borrow a theme from the '60's: "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem." For example: my solution to the Falujia fiasco in Irag was what you see above. Surround the town, give them 24 hours to get the women and children out, and then....smart bomb it into a "parking lot".
