FOX news, a bunch of scumbags that profit off the freedom of others who sacrificed their lives for freedom.

Yeah because FOX news is the one who voted to go into Iraq, not Congress. And MSNBC, CNN, ABC and none of the other networks profited off of covering the war in Iraq. The Democratic is the party of liberty and freedom too I guess?

I believe a Free and Unbiased Press, In the United States, is a part of our History. All the mainstream media (the stuff you see and hear on T.V. and radio) is biased and controlled by special interests. Liberal media vs. Conservative media is just a means to placate the different segments of the population. Meanwhile, Back at the ranch........... :shock:http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/1012.html

I can't help but feel that there's more to it than that. There is talk on Goofy's Facebook page that he is considering a position at Fox News.

Stupid TV for stupid people.

Seriously though, anyone who doesn't know where Egypt really is really ought to go back to school. That or lick a window.

How can people be so thick???!?!

Hate to bust your bubble Nonnig but Fox News is the only agency exposing whats really going on - from Egypt to the Obama Administration. Not that it affects you being from Iceland, but every other news broadcasting station and newspaper here is not telling us the truth. At least Fox is trying.

That is a joke Right :?:
Fox news delivering objective reporting :?:
Not lately, especially since it is privately owned.

To be fair, from most network reporting be it public Radio/TV you absolutely have to read between the lines, do your own research and draw your own intelligent conclusions

That was more along my line of thinking about the 'mistake'. Put Egypt right in the middle of the current hotspot, to help fuel hysteria/interest. Thereby keeping the viewing figures up.

In other words lie to those that know no better, forget their concerns. Treat you like a idiot, tell you a story whilst all the time keeping you in the dark.

Despite previous misgivings I'm quite hopefull for Egypt. It's a nation with a reputation of forming alliances to secure strength in that region. Pretty much since the times of the Pharoahs, when they just took whatever they wanted. I think the west needs to stand up and deliver some help during this time to ensure we're viewed as a favourable ally.

I think the West needs to stay out of it, for the time being, it is a domestic battle and three is a crowd. That being said, it is time ( long overdue ) for the west to really be honest about the cause and effect of a nefarious relationship with middle eastern countries.
There are no Saints in this game, just an end justifying the means...

This is what happens when you bring politics or religion into a guitar forum. We all have our own views and opinions and thats our right. Lets bring the topics back to music and guitars where its suppose to be and the next time someone starts a thread like this it should be ignored...myself included.

The name of the game is to 'agree to disagree' without malice aforethought and bear in mind that there is a geopolitical history that underlies practically every contemporary territorial dispute that our collective memories can recall. Without a well-informed knowledge base in this arena differences of opinion are purely speculative and argumentative at best. Anyone who believes that this whole business started in 1967 was asleep in high school history. Go back to 500 AD and start working your way forward. Let me know what you find out.

Egypt is a African country though mate, not middle eastern as Fox would have us believe.

They've long remained stable through various alliances. It wouldn't suprise me if Mubarak hasn't stayed in power so long without western approval. Him being a friend of both east and west. How was his 'democracy' any different from say Hussain's dictatorship?
But thats just unfounded speculation and supposition on my part.

I'm still not too sure about the Pluto/Goofy thing. I'm starting to wonder why the subject is being avoided.

The media is not now and never has been fair and unbalanced. In the US, "free" as in free from prosecution yes, but unbiased, nope. It wasn't in the time of the founding of this country, has not been in the 235 year history of our country, and if the US lasts another 235 years, will not be unbiased in that time either.

The media and reporting is made up of people reporting events as they see them. People see things through the filters of their position on issues and the body of their life experiences. One can try to be neutral, but neutrality on issues is impossible.

Also, the "media' has sponsors (advertisers, patrons and subscribers). They have to cater to a given slant to keep their sponsors happy and to keep the stream of money flowing in. It has always been that way and I see no way it will ever change.

So, to put down one network over another is nothing more than showing your own bias in how the news should be reported (thus you are one of the sponsors any given media outlet is catering to).

This is where our viewpoints from living or having lived in Europe have common points.
You are most correct in pointing out that much of this, let me rephrase, all of this dates back centuries, tribes current and past all attempting to gain the upper hand.
By tribes I'm not inferring primitive, I'm highlighting the social network which is the basis of countries in the middle East and ( pardon my geo error ) the African Continent.

The Democracy status, as it concerns our (stateside) definition, there is hardly a resemblance and " No "....
I don't see much difference between Hussain's Dictatorship and current status quo.
I'm just dumbfounded as to the decisions made by Western nations, in light of the clear history regarding East to West relations. :?: :?

See mate I don't see a lot of difference between he and Hussain. Mubarak has stayed in power for 30 years through entirely corrupt methods. Hiding behind a thin veil of democracy whilst causing terrible suffering to those he ruled. Make no bones about it, it was a rulership not a democracy at all.
Hussain on the other hand did much the same, but didn't hide behind a political mask. Ok what he did to the Kurds was a bit out of order. But there are differing views as to why he did it.
