I'm looking to pick up a decent digital multimeter for testing guitar electronics, among other things. I'm looking for recommendations. It doesn't have to be industrial quality, but I'd prefer something that isn't cheap plastic junk. Really what I'm looking for is good value for the money, and features for doing typical guitar wiring, testing, etc.

How about this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Equus-3320-Auto-Ranging-Digital-Multimeter/dp/B000EVYGZA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1296672567&sr=8-2

Any advice?

I like the Fluke 77-IV digital multimeter.

This one is out of my range. Thanks for the recommendation, though. Fluke does make some nice meters.

Thanks for the recommendation Arjay! Any reason you'd recommend this one over the Equus?

It seems to have a more usable ammeter function -- vital if you intend to use this instrument to bias the output tubes of an amp. Plus the audible continuity indicator is quite handy at times when you must keep your eye on the positioning of your test leads.

Thanks again, Arjay! That's exactly the kind of info I was looking for with this post.

Yeah Flukes are good, we use em at work, fast display update etc etc, tough as well but pricey.

Def get a meter with a continuity buzzer, some have diode test option as well, ie it measures voltage across the junction, better than an ohms reading if you do much with semiconductors. Just a thought.
