Please tell me as i am looking for a practice/Recording Amp and i just cant buy vintage Amps here in OZ as they are just so rare, Like i don't think i have ever seen a silver face champ here for sale? Is this little amp really that good that it's worth 1K US? Have any of you played through one? Does it sound that good?

Build one mate. Champ's really are not difficult to make.

I like the idea of EL34's/45watt option.

Lots of good info on the net about it.

No new champ is worth $1k US IMHO. You can get a point to point wired 5F1 circuit in a hand-built cab for way cheaper than that. Put it this way: Do you think a champ is worth the same as a Deluxe Reverb? Or a new American Standard guitar? O__o

+1 That amp ain't worth a grand period. It's a one knob one trick pony. Build one.

A build might be the best bet.

The later Champs (silverface) are just as good (sound-wise) as the tweed and blackface ones, in my opinion; but as you said, it might be hard to find such an instrument at your location.

That's why they invented Ebay!

It might not be worth the money but I'd sure like to have one or get Niki to build me one. Great recording amp heritage! I know it's a one trick pony but it does that trick well!!

Guys what you have to consider is that OzRv lives in Australia. I can only imagine that Champs out there are scarce as they are in the UK. We see em peep onto the market and disappear just as quickly.
No doubt a testament to their quality.

FHop' build your own mate. Get a kit and build it. Don't buy the cab, knock one up out of dead gators or something. :D

Interesting...Aussie's eBay Motors (maybe relating to Fender of a car?)
