My apology for a funny but listening to radio this morning I heard more than one interview-ee blame the drifting snow on Mayor Daley and the one person that made me cry laughing so hard blamed the entire storm on George W. Bush.

Thanks. I get really pissed days like this when I'm watching news coverage of NYC's mayor out on Staten Island dicking around with some ground hog which has already bitten him once before, as if its a business as usual day, whilst the rest of the region is off the road, up on a sidewalk, wrapped around a tree. You should see the convoy of black vans with emergency lights that this guy trucks around town in. Not your usual and customary everyman's everyday means of transportation, that.

Someone around here's got one like that, for sure. Our volcanoes, however, have gone to sleep.....for awhile....that is. However, if Yellowstone goes, you won't have to worry much about snowfall. You'll have much more to clean up after.

Heh tell me about it... I read an article not to long ago that there is a volcano just outside my town that blows every 500 years or so, and it blew last somtimes in the 1400's

Solid Body your weather reminds me of last year when we had two blizzards over 4 days or maybe it was one long one but we got several feet of snow. Could not see cars because they were covered completely. We got lucky last week and only got about 8 inches of snow and yesterday was icy rain in the morning and rain today.
I got the 8HP snow blower out last week and it did the job. Cleared my four parking spaces and about ten more for neighbors.

Hang in there Solid, seems like we're over the worst in Manchester UK. weather's been pretty good lately. I don't think we'll get anything too bad now ( that sounds like famous last words ) Hope you're okay man.

What's the name? I'll do some research. Appears as though you folks and the Napolitanos are both on a waiting list. :?

It was 80 on Monday in central Texas, 18 by 4pm on Tuesday with a 35mph wind, and hasn't reached 25 today-wind still here. Try making that shift! At least no ice or snow yet.

I live in the southeastern part of Illinois, pretty far from Chicago and we have been lucky so far in that we only got about 10 inches of snow this year. The big problem here is the ice, it just won't stop with the freezing rain and cold temps.

I hope that all of you under snow make it through okay, just try to keep warm and don't overdo the shoveling. Best of luck.

Did some research myself and found out that article was wrong. Last eruption around what is now the Capitol City area was in the late 1200, according to The Icelandic Web of Science, which in a sense puts us on the waiting list yes :? but the volcano most likely are either Brennisteinsfjöll or Trölladyngja. If Brennisteinsfjöll erupts the lava is most likely to go south of my hometown which puts my worksplace in danger or more likely between my hometown Hafnarfjörður and Garðabær in a really small valley called Elliðarárdalur. Here is a little map showing where Brennisteinsfjöll (which are really series of mountains greated by the same volcano) are in green circle. BTW this is an old map. Hafnarfjörður has grown gloser towards those volcanos. That little factory logo west of Hafnarfjörður by route 41 is my workplace.

Thank you Rhumba and CV, the snow stopped, windy though, after about 2 hours of shoveling I stopped and will start again tomorrow.
