Just curious what was your first instrument, what age were you? I was 14 & everyone in the neighborhood played Drums or Guitar so I wanted to play Bass. My parents figured if I was going to have an instrument I'd need lessons. Anyway my monther was going to buy me a horrid blue bass in a dept store for $50 but before she called Alvin Pulley Music Studios & to ask about it & the old guy sold my mother a Fender Musicmaster bass for $25 plus $10 for a gig bag & booked me for lessons which I took until Cars & Girls became more important than lessons. I must say Mr. Pulley really pushed me along.

I started on a Cort Les Paul copy. It was terrible but all that I could afford at the time as a kid. I played it until I saved up enough money to buy an Aria Pro II that I kept for a long time.

Cherry red Epiphone strat copy, with reverse headstock. Korean made I believe. Great guitar, crappy pickups.

Gibson Epoch Les Paul. Cheap thing you could get at Target for $90. I paid $180 used at a local shop (Before I knew anything about guitars). Same local shop that later replaced the transformer on my Ampeg for free <_<

I was about ten. I got this New York Pro acoustic guitar. The guitar was bigger than me. I couldn't look over it because it came up to my chin. Sadly, I got rid of it because I got a new acoustic. Kinda regret getting rid of it

I got my first guitar for my 10th birthday in March '64 one month after seeing The Beatles for the first time. When I saw them on stage I decided then and there that I would become a musician. The guitar was a hand me down from my uncle with Black Diamond strings that were more like mooring cables and 1/2" action. As much as that guitar hurt my fingers I was bound and determined to play and when I finally got a "good"guitar- a Harmony Archtone-playing it was a breeze.

I got a Yamaha FG75 for Christmas when I was 17. Still got it. I'm 55 now and if one of the grand or great-grand kids doesn't show an interest I want to be cremated with it. It's been through more with me than any person. My wife says she understands.

When I started, my father gave me his old Gibson '69 double-cut Melody Maker and some kind of Epiphone acoustic I never searched on what kind of model it was. If I had pics, I'd show them.

I always that it paid of pretty good in the end to have parents who were both former musicians, really.

Both...
My first guitar was a Yamaha Classical student model, I look at it every time I walk into my living room as it's hanging on the wall.

My Bass was an Aria 1000, which I sold back in 93. I regret that transaction every time I think about it...

My first guitar was a Framus arch top acoustic.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
