That would be cool, but I'm sure fender would look at that as reducing their profits. Somehow the company would have some liabilty claims put on it that really weren't their problem but would get the shaft on it anyway.

I'm sure if you get talking to members though PM you should be able to swap stuff without violating the forum rules. Not as convienent but a way to do it.

telling me why im wrong on this, i know its coming lol. just a passing vent honestly.

I understand the need to vent.

I agree way cool, a "trading post" area would be great. The profit argument doesn't really make much sense to me either.
Maybe in your signature, you can list the gear you want to get rid of.... that way users can pm you with offers or trade propositions

Gibson site has it, as well as many other sites.... ah well. Would be nice but just doesn't seem up Fender's alley

aint trying to get rid of anything, im looking to buy stuff, pieces and parts.
yeah i could put it in my sig but i dont want to get frowned upon by any of the members, by Brad or fender even. rules are rules and we have to keep them in mind ya know?
yeah i just dont see where it would hurt fender and its been nothing but a positive for everybody else. it is what it is ya know.

Ya I agree.... it most likely would be frowned upon

I'm like you, and I assume like most of us.... we are never really looking to get rid of anything, just acquire more gear

yeah i have a couple guitfiddles im working on. i trust the folks on here with gear and suggestions over anywhere else. im also stockpiling as well.
my local craigslist is loaded with stuff but everybody wants dang near full price for everything. several guys have whole lists up. if they sell everything for what they are asking, they will retire comfortably.

Fender unlike say TGP is a big time corporation and they dont what the hassle or legal responsibility of having to deal with deals gone bad. That would be my guess. it's a good idea though. you have checked out tgp right?

yes there are sweet deals on there to be had.
they have a disclaimer up dont they?
i dont see anybody going to fender "he ripped me off and im gonna punch him for it" lol.
seriously. we dont know until we try right? i dont see it being a bad thing at all.
im sure the nay sayers have a whole list of reasons why its bad, but thats with everything though. theres bad in everything, just most of the time the goods out weigh the bads and life moves on.

This is what the site says for the trading post rules:

"Ground Rules:

1) Only used equipment personally owned by poster can be sold, you can't sell for a friend, etc. You must own it.

2) This is for individuals selling personal equipment only, not for dealers posting inventory. Brand name does not matter, so you are not restricted to only Gibson family products.

3) As the Seller YOU MUST stand behind the sale to guarantee satisfaction, offer an evaluation period and allow a return to you if the buyer is not satisfied for any reason.

4) Buyer must be registered with our forum. That means no guest access to this forum.

5) We strongly suggest you take PayPal for payments so that the buyer has a means of help if there is an issue you are not resolving as you should in a sale. Buyers, we suggest you insist on PayPal for transactions.

We are allowing this area to open as a service to forum members as individuals dealing with individuals, in the community. Our goals is to insure that the transactions are legitimate and great experiences for both parties. To do this we need to do our best to prevent fraudulent activity and in addition to these simple rules, take steps to protect our community when required. We reserve the right to modify these rules at any time, and delete any postings not following the rules. We think the folks are Craigslist have a lot of great things to teach you about getting scammed as a seller and encourage you to read their advice on dealing with buyers.

We are counting on members of this community to help us police the area, just as you always graciously jump to point out fraud and counterfeit instruments posted on the Internet from time to time. So, use this place wisely, be safe and sensible, and have fun buying, selling and trading your gear. "

i do see a problem if a store or other company were to come in trying to sell their goods, then there is a problem. when asked to stop they always do w/o issues.

Gibson can do it because they don't have to worry about people trading bodies and necks ^^

Hi guys: I haven't studied how it works on Gibson's site, so I'm just asking for information here. Looking at Gibson's list of rules (above) I notice this:

The bit I underlined suggests Gibson accept some kind of responsibility in the whole thing. And if push came to shove I bet that is true, legally speaking, since they have created the facility and offered it publicly.

So what I'm wondering, what happens when there are disputes? Do Gibson get involved in conflict resolution, the way Ebay sometimes have to?

Anyone seen how that turns out? Cos conflicts there would most definitely be...

Cheers - C
