I'm a first time forum user.

Occasionally I will visit a guitar store and see a Strat or Tele that was ostensibly made special for the vendor. For example, MusiciansFriend just had a Chambered Tele listed as an exclusive offering.

I wonder if Fender has public listing of these special guitars. I haven't been able to find a resource for such guitars.

I've noticed that these vendor specific runs aren't added to the product list on the manufacturers websites. Only the vendors do any advertising. One of the most popular vendor runs was the Vintage Mahogany LP Studio. MF, GC and Sweetwater were selling them and there was never a mention of their existence on the Gibson site. Which is probably good, Gibson would have charged $1200 for them instead of the $799 the vendors did.

I think that there's a fine line between "special edition" and "factory special run" as well as "Fender limited edition" products. Bottom line is go out and play them and if they sound good, who cares what they're called, just play 'em.

Whether they are special editions or special runs, I was just wondering if there is a record of these guitars kept anywhere in a public forum. After 45 plus years of playing Fender guitars I actually got a enough bread together to buy a few just cause I can and so now I'm alway perusing...javascript:emoticon(':D')
Very Happy
