After several months playing my JCM 800 4210 I brought my Blues Jr. up to the living room. Although the Marshall is a fabulous amp the little Blues Jr. has a little something that the Marshall can't quite get in its tone.Great as the 4210 is it can't warm up to bluesy tones quite like the Blues Jr. ,the Marshall is more suited for raunch than blues, and I think that's what I'm missing but didn't realize until I got used to the Blues Jr. I think I'll start off with the Firebird V and then pull out the big guns-the Jimmie Vaughn Strat and the 50th Ann.BTW I wish there was some way to disguise my old Bassman with the 2-15 cab as a coffee table so I could sneak that into the living room-that's a real killer dedicated blues rig.

Try a 5751 in V-1 of your tube amps. Takes just enough of the edge off and smooths it out.

Thanks for the link W.C. where my wiring skills are basic I'd probably need to get on of my more savy buddies to do the mods.

im gonna have a local shop do mine. did you like the differences in tone he had?
i think it makes the amp way more vers than it was before. the tone really came to life
with those mods.

The clean sound he was getting with the upgrades was fabulous-like a cross between a Plexi and a Blackface Twin-real purty.I wasn't crazy about the overdrive sounds he was getting though sounded a bit too harsh to my ears.
