As the title says folks- does he frequent these forums anymore or has been seduced by the dark side?

He quit, didn't make a public song and dance, but told me privately.

Still talk to him on facepalm, thats about it.

That's a pity that he just up and quit-he was pretty knowledgeable about all things Fender and guitars in general. Also missing Campbellgrafx and Lomitus(Jim).

Suppose you set up a straw poll and we'll see what the response is. If we get enough of a mandate, perhaps we can persuade him to jump back in the pool.

I think I might understand BigJay's decision to leave here. You can only stay on a board this size for so long until the foolishness of the masses starts to frustrate you what with some of their oddball assertions. For example, the guy about a year back who insisted any Stratocaster that was not configured as SSS was not a genuine Strat, that FMIC somehow makes it's own fake Strats or some oddball idea like that. It can be frustrating and I sometimes have to restrain myself. BigJay expressed a similar sentiment at one point. Maybe that was his reason. I know I sometimes wonder why I'm still here. As I get older I notice my tollerance for bull-p0op diminishes. The thing that's kept me here this long is that there are a handfull of people who do actually know a thing or two.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I did too, you just didn't respond to my question, 'where have you been?'

So fancy spilling the beans yet Straycat?

There's no chance of BigJay coming back, I'm very sorry to say.
Lomitus is also on facepalm occasionaly, far too busy lately educating himself. But he assures me, he'll stop by when he gets chance.

Bill, Jay is a complex character. I really don't feel it right to discuss him without his consent, and without knowing that he would be looking in. To keep the record straight.

Likewise I wouldn't do it to you or anyone else. Sorry mate, I'm a funny old sod.

[EDIT for better explanaition]

It is hard for me to see how anyone can get that worked up over a forum. It is basically some annonymous names on a screen sharing their opinions. If we agree, great, if we disagree, so what, it is what makes the world go 'round. With that being said some characters on here do seem more apt to get heated more quickly than others.

Yeah your right, this is not the place for explanations of that type... Im just sorry he took off. Even though this is just a guitar forum, we tend to form kind of a bond (some better some worse) I have gained a great friend and guitar playing partner from this very forum, and hope others have had similar experiences.
When one of the "regulars" vanishes... it kind of sucks

Bill

Welcome back Straycat! Yes, a bunch of Brothers and Sisters are MIA, it does suck. Should we send out a scouting party?, confident we can find them all. 8)
