I'm just making an observation here, because I'm bored with a cold and have nothing better to do at the moment (Rather get snot on the keyboard rather than the fingerboard):

Is it just me or often times we, the guitarist community, sound like a bunch of food critics when talking about gear. I've read reviews on pedals that were like: "It's warm, buttery, creamy and smooth. However, once you get into it you find out it can get pretty hot, sometimes fizzy. Good quality, no cheap ingredients here." Then after someone reads the review or watches the video, they get GAS.

Even better is vintage guitars, they sound like wine connoisseurs. The older the better of course, they even sometimes go to the extent of describing aroma and the unique accents and tonal qualities. Amps are like steaks: "meaty, beefy, heavy, bold, but cleans up nicely when you back off a bit." Also, like the wine, they're better when they're aged and got a bit of dirt and mold on them (Only difference being you don't cut the mold off amps >_>).

I also find when looking at an order form for the CS it's like a fancy restaurant menu. Many enticing sometimes confusing options, none of which I can afford. So as with food, I go with cheap Chinese take-out or find something used. ^^

Edit: Forgot to add that we only go with Japanese after we find out what it's made of ^^

Thanks Nutter. Luckily no fever or anything like that, just the sinuses are not being very kind. >_>

Also wanted to add that like fine wine, vintage guitars just sit in the wealthy's humidity controlled basement, either on a rack or in a display case until special occasions or when someone makes the right offer. Of course, the best examples and unique recipes stay with the factory so they can be replicated or just as a display piece >_____>

Like a fine cognac or Napolean Brandy some of my vintage guitars are taken out every now and then to be savoured and then stored away carefully and lovingly to be savoured again when the time comes.

That's a tobacco worm. You're supposed to bite the head off and throw the rest away.

Feel better Capo! trying to think of rock and roll songs with a food reference and all I got so far is: Green Onions, Stone Soul Picnic, The Jolly Green Giant, The Peppermint Twist, Mother Popcorn, Candy. there are others just can't recall them.

Feeling a little better, probably used enough tissues to send Kleenex' stock up a 1/4 of a point. That and I pretty much have my face coated in VaporRub, love that stuff. Thanks for the get wells. ^^

Other ways we treat guitars like food (Or beverages):
- Mexican: Some love it, some feel it needs some modifying before they commit (Make it a little more American). Others just stay away because they don't like the idea of something being refried and sometimes that beef just seems a little iffy. This is also true in the fact that some Mexican is very good, sometimes excellent, other times it's better to send it back where it came from >_>
- I don't know about you guys, but I only go for the fancy stuff if a) I have a coupon or b) They have a special or somebody else is picking up the tab ^^
- Cheap liquor is often carried in a flimsy little bag. Good liquor comes with a hard protective case.
- It's a lot more valuable and tastier if it's made from something endangered.
- Handmade is preferred, kind of like Pizza. Of course it's better to go master-built rather than trust that kid at Domino's.
- For some reason, some insist that certain ingredients taste better depending on where they are from, despite them being the same species. Saigon cinnamon, Malabar black pepper, Brazilian rosewood <_<.
- We as guitarists inherently cannot take having just one type of food, no matter how good that food is we convince ourselves we need something different or we can make it better ^^

Healing vibes from metro Chicago, Capo. Hip thread.

In this opinion, guitarists are in many cases pretty much wack jobs of their own sorta-ish unique sub-genre of artist-obsessive...

...except we "tend" to create someting more than orderly lines or groups, because we are into the admittedly unique and broad combination of:

Many musical styles
Art
Craftsmanship
Community
Electronics
Lutherie
Physics
Aural acuity
Artistic tradtion
Artistic experimentation
Copying
Creating
Idol worship
Anger expression
True musicianship
Hack playing
Snobbery
Flash
Showmanship
Understatement
Poseur-ing
Cultural cross-mingling
Social commentary
Frivolity
Spirituality
Technique
Zen
