I was talking to a teacher friend who teaches at the high school level and he was saying that today's students have become way too dependant on computers, calculators and such to the point that they've become intellectually lazy and incapable of independant problem solving. He blames a lot of this on the abolishing of spelling tests and learning multiplication and division tables as well as simple grammarical rules. He was saying hardly anyone comes out of school these days knowing where to use their, there or they're for example and use meaningless statements like "could of" instead of the proper contraction could've and of course he mentioned the everpopular "I could care less" where the proper expression is "I couldn't care less."and went on and on with other examples of blatant lack of knowledge of basic English grammar.
He finds the dumbing down of school curriculums to be one of the greatest injustices visited on students as more and more are leaving school ill prepared to problem solve and with fewer communications skills than ever.In todays age where communications and ability to convey your thoughts concisely and intelligently are so important many are entering the job market at a complete disadvantage.

Absolutly,

We can't continue to throw money into public schools systems that continue to be stupid.

Absolutely.

( See how I did that? ---Spelled the word correctly?-----)

You can't fix stupid.

It comes down to whether you are waging a better English crusade, or selling an amp.

1. 'Agree; never invite an unknown to your home to look at a "for sale" item. Period.

2. Literacy is a choice. The person in or out of the poorest school, regardless of their station in life, makes a conscious choice of the means by which they CHOOSE to express themselves. A grammar book can be found in the library, grammar and spelling are certainly available online.

People educate, express themselves and "come across," the way they CHOOSE to.

I would agree you should respond. I will also never meet anyone at my house I don’t know. I might suggest a music store.
He might have been excited or tried to email from a phone. There could be lots of reasons why it was written that way.
