I'm with the others here - go with a Mexican Standard. Here is a Ash FSR from Guitar Center I have and I love it (the one closest to the camera):

How much did the ash tele cost? Im thinking about getting a dean ML from my dads buddys website where we can get a discount on it or a 79 dean V reisue from the same site.

No extensive idea about the Dean's, this is after all Fender inspired, an inexpensive Fender or any guitar for that matter is not the same thing as a cheap guitar.
It's all semantics but means being satisfied with your purchase or realizing you bought a DuD.

Our advice was concerning Fender's which we know well, the Dean's you will have to inquire from someone who knows them well.
Just for input, I have seen them, picked them up, briefly played them acoustically.
I feel they have a long way to go to compare with MIM's or even Squier's offerings

Then apparently your Dad's buddy is well positioned and knowledgeable enough to assist you, which was the principal concern of those who responded to you. Keeping that in mind then, if you are interested in a quality, reasonably priced Fender guitar, source those Made in Mexico beginning with either the Standard Series Telecasters or Stratocasters. I agree, there are no good cheep new guitars around a $100. However, you may find a good used one for about $250.

I got my ash FSR Tele new for around $350 plus tax. It is a fine playing/sounding guitar and worth every penny.
