I was at work at a small private college when one of the secretaries came into the office and told us we should all come to the break room right away. Our first thought (and if only it had just been that) was that we were all fired -- we knew the owner had been trying to sell the school for some time.

Someone had brought in a portable TV that day and what we saw left us all speechless. At first, someone admitted, they thought maybe it was some clever student video but sadly, no. I can still see the whole sequence in my mind as they kept replaying it.

I was in highschool at that time...remember it well.

My word, 25 years ago!

I was working in a TV shop at the time and saw the whole thing on a Newsflash on the BBC (no multi-channel options in those days). I think myself, the other staff and customers just stood open-mouthed at the horrific images.

I was on pediatric rounds with the future surgeon general of the US at the University of Arkansas. We were both in a patient's room and watched it happen on TV. It was shocking.

In grade 3 watching it on TV in the classroom.

I had just walked into the barracks in Germany after coming off of duty. There was a crowd around the door to the CQ office watching the television showing the launch. The shuttle exploded just as I entered.
