let me explain.
yrs ago, probably 20 or so, i was in a store with a g.friend.
there wasnt any piece of gear out that i wanted, i either had it already or
had it in the past. we were just looking around to see if there was anything new
to be had. of all the guitars on the racks most were custom and many were small shop
guitars that have now become major players in the guitar world, one caught my eye. it was a kramer american. i played that guitar for a couple hours there.
it was a sweet guitar and lightly used. i wanted the guitar. i didnt need it, but i wanted it. well i was able to pull myself away and leave empty handed. i had enough guitars already and honestly, it wouldnt have made my top 10 at home anyways.
well several days went by and my g.griend had went back to the store and bought it
w/o me knowing. she gave it to me that night at dinner and i was shocked.
i played it for for about a week having it fine tuned here and there to my likes.
gig night came and it was my axe of choice. two songs from the nights end i did my
ever so popular behind the back spin and the guitar launched like a rocket across the stage. the headstock snapped off like a twig and that was that. well ive hung on to that guitar after having a neck built by a guy now famous for his building.
the guitar was never worth very much after that as far as money goes, but i played it from time to time. it looks no different than your average partscaster and often over looked by those i show my collection to, for other guitars.
well last night i was looking on CL and i clicked on a post that had a title that normally wouldnt catch my eye............

in one of the pic's of stuff he was selling, in the background set something amazing.
my heart stopped, mouth dropped. it was my neck i gave up looking for.
the right neck and logo for the one i snapped all those yrs ago. sure i could have fit any other kramer neck on that body, but i wanted one that was exactly like what belonged there.
i contacted the guy this morning and i'll be going to look at it on sunday.
im pretty excited about this find. my old friend the partscaster will be no more and reborn will be another kramer american. this guitar was full tilt shred back in the day.
the guy assures me that this neck is what im looking for. he used it on a vintage ESP body for all these yrs and broke it down for resale. that ESP body is worth a small fortune as well as it isnt that LTD crap. my fingers are crossed on this deal.
i'll finally be able to put this guitar in my high end collection and not in the corner with the other lower end guitars. ok so this whole story might not excite anybody but man its got my heart racing.

yes it is. its something i never thought i would see come to pass and had pretty much given up on the idea of ever getting this guitar right again.
i never thought that 20 yrs later........... im just very excited about this.
this is one of the most looked for guitars by collectors looking for 80's prime jewels.
lol for 20 yrs i just hung my head........ "yeah i use to have one".

exactly. its like im seeing a personal goal thats taken 20 yrs to come together.
small taters to most people but to me its almost everything. maybe i should raise the bar lol.

That's a great story. A fantastic ending to a bad event. We don't all get a second chance at rewriting own history. Congratulations. Post pics if you can.

i feel what your saying here waycool. if anything ever happened to my trusty old charvel model 4, well, i don't even want to think about it.

kenny i plan on pics asap. im going on sunday to looksee at it. i just hope the neck fits the body pocket like it should. its all i can think about believe me.

I know the feeling well mate.
I gigged this Charvel for about 3 years. Then one day, finaly sick of the weight of it. I sold it to a friend in another band on the same scene.



A Japanese Charvel CX291 from around 88/89.

I came back to me a couple of years ago. Stayed a few months, then went off to another friend in need. It'll come back again sooner or later.

waycool, mr.nik, the neck on my charvel is perfect for me. for some reason i just play that guitar with a differnt' attitude. ya'll know what i mean. it is and always will be my number 1 axe. (tear falling from right eye).

i have to say my jackson is my goto guitar for most things.
for blues its my tele or my HW1 modded strat.
