One of my permanent band members dropped it on the concrete floor and made a dent in the windscreen. How do you fix it. I unscrewed the windscreen and there is a spongy lining inside. I could just push the windscreen back with a finger, however supposedly it has to be a better and a smarter way.

Thanks

Purely an aesthetic problem, I have two 57's and one 58, all of them are very road worn and beaten, plenty of dents and still going strong.

Back in the day when I cared about such things, pushing with your finger from the inside is what I did. Nowadays if they work, it's all good.

Or buy a windscreen and put it on, problem solved. 8)

Hopefully the inside element is okay.

Dent equals mojo! 8)

however, anti-denting it with the finger like you said is perfectly ok.

Always remember, it's a Shure, so it's a Rock'n'Roll tool!

Cheers!

Yeah, it was a real rock-n-roll move, after finishing his favorite "Twinkle Twinkle..." tune he threw the mike on the floor with the whole "I am finished" theatrical bit. Luckily it's a shure and it still works fine. The mesh on the screen seems soft so I will push it back with a finger as suggested.

Thank you again.

The only trouble is that he is two years old... :P
Lesson learned, next time the mike has to be on the stand and not in his hands or he is getting a fisher price mike (buzzy one).
