Nice, definitely worth the work. That's one of the first songs I learnt all the way through.

Yeah, learned Rebel rebel myself the other day. Gotta say Mick Ronson wrote some killer riffs with Bowie, Ziggy Stardust and Jean Jeanie are other greats.

This is a bit on a tangent but I'm currently working on " She Moved Through the Fair " and " Maggie's Reel " the Al Petteway versions.

As well as some Scottish and Celtic tunes in DADGAD and CGCGCD tunings on the acoustic.
( while I write/type the Dixie Chics are on)

Sometimes a complete change of pace is like " A Breath of Fresh Aire "

Hey 53! How's the shoveling of crystalline water coming? Still knee deep in white stuff? :)

There are soo many versions of this piece, no? There's one I had on a quite interesting CD once. I looked it up on amazon, there's a quick soundbite if you want to listen. Track 9, although, I just noticed, they changed it to "He". Well, it's still quite a haunting rendition and sung by a young lady in a very "Airey" voice! ;-)

Cheers lads. It's great to see what is going on musically on this board. Thumbs up!

-Nutter

edit: Mr. Nutter messed up the quoting levels. Bah.

Knee Deep :?:   That was surpassed 2 weeks ago, I am now waist high in the white stuff, with 5 pairs of SL and GS skis at the ready, but not a hill within 2-1/2 hours drive that I cannot see over the top standing on my ski-tips.
Weather man ( former day traders  ) says more on the way Tuesday...Brilliant !!
On the Plus side... That's why they made the Audi S4 Quattro..Hee...Hee...Glee.

Yeah there are too many interpretations but I like Petteway's as it is rather simple (sort of )
But how could you expect anything but multiple versions when most of these are Pub inspired  :?:

If you want to check out Al Petteway go to www.AcousticMusicResource.com
As well as www.fairewood.com

Picked out the chords of Star by Stealers Wheel today and now I'm working on making up a lead break in place of the piano solo in it.When I get gigging again this song is definitely going on my set list and since my keyboard skills aren't proficient enough to do the solo myself I'll have to work in something tasty for guitar instead unless I can find a keyboard player who can play in a Rachmaninoff style.

The intro to "Funky Broadway" by Wilson Picket..got it down just trying to decide whether I like it better using a strat or tele....working on two other songs of Spirit's debut LP "Fresh Garbage" and "Mechanical World"...having trouble with the timing on when to hit the fuzz cos' it's got multi tracked guitar parts.

Lenny kravitz "Always on the run" great catchy riff and great song to jam too... Very cool tone to, not sure if it's Lenny or Slash though.

After my shoulder surgery in June, i didn't play much guitar for a few weeks and then only a few minutes at a time. Well I did played some, the meds made me sound great! Took a lot of time to be able to put some time in to hard core playing. I had been in two bands doing Jahwaiann stuf and the other band was mostly original stuff with a little reggae flavor, well they all went on with out me. So 3 or 4 moths ago I hooked up with some guys that are playing 80's stuff, T.P. Doors (opps 70's) real guitar rock, some southern stuff good and loud!. So i have had to dig out some old stuff. Learn some old riff's. At first i was a kicking and screaming, mostly I do most of the signature licks and then as andybighair said I put my big hairy stamp on it. Well it's my my interest.. Nice to see how little things change, a good riff from 1978 is still a good riff now.. Pretty much my Strat keep me sane thur this long recovery. Mark
