'course it has; maybe it's not called riff, but I get what you mean.
BTW if you like movements and patterns à la Beatles (also with some fine pickings) I recommend Elliot Smith. Himself a great Beatles-fan and highly creative songwriter, he uses similar harmonies as Lennon/McCartney did but with an interesting twist.

i've been "working on" a king's x tune for years and still can't play it. "lost in germany". my bass player insists that it's within my grasp due to the fact that i play metallica riffs in my sleep. i don't think so. two completely differnt' animals.

What coincidence that The Nutter mention Elliott Smith as one of the songs I've been working on lately is Waltz No.2 (XO) from the brilliant XO album.I have all 7 of his releases and each one is a precious gem-he was truly a gifted songwriter and guitarist .Sadlly like a lot of brilliant songwriters he had a tortured soul that proved to be his downfall.
I'm also working on Angel from Jimi's Cry Of Love one of the most beautiful songs written and absolutely haunting when played through a Leslie with a Strat and a Marshall head.

On six string (in a Beatles nostalgia mode) - Blackbird and Norwegian Wood. Neither hard, but I haven't played either in years.

On bass: getting the actual bass line in Moondance down rather than the approximations I (and many others I've heard) tend to use. And not usually using a pick, getting down a nice "poppy" sound with pick on Whipping Post.

tonight I am working on the riff from "You Don't Love Me" from Junior Well's Hoo Doo Man Blues. It is almost the same as the Allman Brothers version but one little difference.

Hi Biff725: I love the opening chord sequence of 5:15. Pete says he had a strange way of forgetting those chords seconds before he had to play them each night...

So happens I also have a half-finished version of 5:15 on my Yamaha AW1600 waiting for me to get round to putting on the rest of the tracks. Done as an instrumental with a very different arrangement than The Who - I don't have a horn section handy in my practice room...

Hmmm: I must get back to that sometime...

Cheers - C

Currently working on bits and pieces of Shine on You Crazy Diamond. Someday I will piece them all together. Also some Clapton stuff.

One riff that every guitarist should know. I learned a few weeks ago. "Rebel Rebel". After a few hours of practice I was so proud of myself until I realized except for 3 chords and a bend on the G thats the whole song. I very nearly fall asleep on it now. Learned it for a cover band I was jamming with.
