I was learning Johnny B. Goode, but I've pretty much got it down now. So, now I'm working on I'm Going Home by Ten Years After. It's fast, but I'm starting to get the hang of it. I'm also working hard on pit band music for my school's play, which is prooving to be quite difficult for me becuase I haven't read any music notation (that isn't tabs) until now.

This Larry Carlton tune - - you probably don't know it by it's title, but many might recognize it from the melody :

I'm continuing to fail to learn the main riff from Scuttle Buttin' by SRV. There was a thread here about it a few weeks ago and some people said they could do it and some said they couldn't. I thought I'd take that as a sort of challenge and went for it.

And I'm still "wenting" for it. Without a lot of success. I put that down to being strictly a thumb and two fingers picker: I claim that it is just not possible to do that riff anything close to full speed without a pick. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

For anyone who doesn't know, here it is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHEVIWpX ... re=related

And anyone who wants to post here that it's easy and they can do it in their sleep - you are absolutely forbidden to say that unless you also post a YouTube clip of yourself doing it as proof. And if you do post a vid and can indeed play that lick then you officially receive the title of Forum Smarty-Pants. Wear it with pride.

Cheers - C

Ceri, you're mad Bro. 8) Texas can play it. I'm a bass guitar player (excuses  ) and so I'll borrow a Bros guitar and super slow it. Wearing Fender Forum Smarty-Pants with pride? Aromatic Smarti-Farti-Pants with GAS perchance? 8)
