Mr Armadillo, that's exactly what I like about the Rev too. You put it far more succinctly than I could have.

What I like about Beck is the absolute lack of need for vocals, his melody lines (with bar and vol pot) just negate the need for words.
You can hear the lyric on the guitar on the latest album, which is mostly covers.
How many other guitarists can you say that about? The only other I can think of is Hank Marvin. Though thats a different world altogether. Part of the reason why I think it's easy to be alienated by Beck's albums. But when he plays something you know, he tears the rear end out of it.
Listen how he seemlessly shifts from vocal line melody to orchestra line on this classic number.

Conversely, Billy Gibbons is one modern blues guitarist I do enjoy. He never fails. Why?
Because he doesn't stick to the same old format for that music. I like blues, I listen to it occasionaly. I just don't center all of my musical focus on it.

Mate between you and me, I'm a middle aged construction worker, who's pushed his life to the limits. Well before he hit 25. You're not going to offend me and that's not what I'm interested in. What I am interested in, is that a site I really enjoy be suitable for all. Be they 6 or 60.

Sorry just my melancholy nature taking over. Believing that it's all over before I hit forty. Still a year and a bit away.

I'm really suffering here lads. 28 was a utter nightmare for me, worrying about being thirty. Yet 30 was the absolute best year of my life. Even better than 19. Now I'm not worrying about parenthood at 29. But worrying about the future prospect of grandparenthood, needlessly. My 13 year old (yeah I know it don't add up), future prime minister doesn't ever put a foot wrong.

Ok, So i have caused more anguish, Opinions are subjective, I will turn it down a bit so i don't offend because i intend to stay in these forums, I don't think i am a god, I have an opinion and i believe in my opinion totally. I do not think believing in my subjective opinion strongly is talking down to somebody.
