The Roots will have to brush up on their Paganini and Bach since Neo-Classical Heavy Metal Guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen will be in the house, sitting in with the band.

Being that Questlove is such the musicologist, he will no doubt have at least a couple of records from the Swedish guitarist in his personal collection. The Roots and Yngwie may find common musical ground with some Jimi Hendrix selections, as Yngwie is known to include Hendrix cover songs in his live set.

On Thursday, February 3, guitar legend and classical metal master Yngwie Malmsteen will sit in with the amazing house band THE ROOTS on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon”. Expect a mind-blowing display of virtuosity from Malmsteen, as he jams with THE ROOTS on a variety of material. Malmsteen will be featured throughout the entire show.

“Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” airs on NBC at 12:35 a.m. ET/PT.

Malmsteen has an interview coming up in guitar player magazine. I subscribe so I get it early. He claims he's going to be running sixty 100 watt Marshall full stacks on his next tour all running full up. He claims the amps are being used, not for props. This guy is still a tool. Maybe he'll be able to write better songs when he finally goes deaf.

i won't be upset if i miss this one. Yngwie never really appealed to me at all, i just feel there is no soul to what he plays. The roots were once one of my favorite bands in that genre, but they sold out to the mainstream pop culture. I saw them in a hole in the wall bar back in the mid 90s and they were awesome though. And Jimmy Fallon is one of those people I would punch in the face on sight no questions asked.

Hate to say it but...I wouldn`t waste my time watching Yngwie...I never cared for him or his style of playing. Seems like a brat that bashes equiptment.

YJM is on the cover of this month's Guitar Player, looking like the douche that he is...usually I look forward to the latest issue in my mailbox, but I haven't even brought myself to crack the cover yet, due to the cover girl.

One funny thing was my wife calling me at work and asking me, "Who is Eyeng-wee?"
She's pretty hip on guitarists, but he's such a non-factor in our house that she didn't even know who he was. That makes me proud of her.

I was never a fan.
Like it has been noted, his playing doesn't sound like it has any soul or feel.
Feels and sounds robotic to me

Sounds like a Distaster Area allusion to me. He must be a hitchhiker's guide fan.

I don't know how the Roots can de-soul themselves enough to play with that arrogant jackass.

Yngwie bashers, they always make me laugh. You can say what you want about Yngwie but none of you will ever be half the players that he is. I am sure that this post will bring the heat down on me but that is cool, I really don't care.
