Amp update: MOAR DECISIONS!!!!!

so,old amp sold and shipped, but now im being told by my dads friend that the hotrod deville would be much better for me than the deluxe reverb, as the deville has an effects loop.... also, he offered to sell me his for $300, which would leave me enough money to buy the electro harmonix polychorus ive been drooling over for the past month or start saving for a new guitar...

Well... the Deville will be louder and has more bells-n-whistles than the DR. Which Deville? Isn't there a 4X10 and a 2X12? Heavy?

Well... the Deville will be louder and has more bells-n-whistles than the DR. Which Deville? Isn't there a 4X10 and a 2X12? Heavy?

i believe its the 2x12.... i dont know a whole lot about the amp, so if anyone could give me an idea of the differences that would be great
edit: im not really looking for a ton of "bells and whistles", but rather just a straightforward amp with reverb built in....

i know, but if i get the deluxe reverb i cant get the polychorus.... what "bells and whistles" does the deville have?

The 2x12 will sound deeper and bassier than the 4x10.
I wouldn't consider the deville a bell and whistly amp as far as anything goes, but do you really need an effects loop?

to be quite honest (and show my still relative nooby-ness), im not even sure what an effects loop DOES.... :oops:

correct me if im wrong, but doesnt it give you a separate channel for your stomp boxes so you dont have to tap dance around your board if you want, say, distortion chorus and delay or something like that?

You should post this on the amp forum and let some of our amp gurus help you out. I have seen a lot of maintenance problems on that line of amps as opposed to the Deluxe Reverb . Talk to Arjay, Supro, and the rest before deciding. JMHO! :wink:

Thanks Mike, but those members are knowledgeable in the tech. area as I just remember reading a lot of post concerning the subject.
