Hi, My passport 500 makes thumping noise if I hit the mic with my hand but no sounds comes out when speaking into the mic. I have traded out the mic and mic cable. Also I tried each of the four mic inputs.

Perhaps try asking in the Fender Passport area (further down this page) and the Fender moderators there will be able to help you. Ken Porter is usually pretty good at responding as well as the others.
