I didn't even realize the EJ Strats came with a 12" radius and the V neck. Interesting, I'll have to track one of them down tomorrow.

Really guys, wow. I'm still blown away. :D

Well, here's my general idea. I'm going on that Guitar Center Fender playing spree tomorrow so I'll be able to try some specific models I think I might like (perhaps buying a used neck or body stock off ebay would save some money) and I'll also try models with specific pickups I'd like to hear. I've always been curious what the other Fender Custom Shop pickups sound like, like Fat 50's, 69's etc. I remember last time I was there I really loved the American Deluxe V neck, so I really hope they have one in stock so that I can try it again.

That's great have a ball!!!

I'm in for the pickups!!! Please give me a run down on all the pick ups you try!! i would love to hear a brief description of the ones you try especially the fat 50's and 69's, 57-69', standard. delta and even the noiseless things just to get a opinion, as it would be of great interest to me also and i struggle with time cause of work.

Everyone in??? Let's all pool and make sure TGS does not have to buy inferior or used (uless you want to of course) The white with maple and gold guard and hardware i love it just sounds just so ooo Creamy and individual!!!!     I am so happy for you!!!! Building your dream guitar in what ever it turns out to be is just heaven!!!! Stand up and be counted people!!!! and let's do a kind deed for this passionate young musician!!!! Who's paying for a bit or all of what part??????? Time has runout for the suspense for TGS let's get a plan!!! So your paying for???????

Can you say "custom fender forum shop"?

You know, my Dad is a graphic artist so I don't think it would be beyond his reach to design the headstock. I'm thinking that the Fender Lounge logo would look cool on the back of the headstock where Custom Shop guitars usually have the Custom Shop logo.

I don't want "Fender Stratocaster" on the headstock if it's not an actual Fender neck. I think that's technically illegal anyway. But I think it would definitely be cool for it to say "Lounge-O-Caster" in place of "Stratocaster". That way I could tell people the story behind it if they asked about it. :D

Oh, and as far as the address/paypal goes, shoot me a private message. :)

TGS

If we get permision from Fender and your Dad agrees. Could he perhaps print a few more than needed custom fender forum shop decals, that we could buy?

I think most of us would like one. I'm thinking exactly the same as you, back of the headstock on my 57HR. The decals round the front are on the lacquer rather than under it. So I'm careful with that end of the guitar, anyway.

TGS..

A couple more Q & A's
Body style (profile) is that going to be a 50's, 60's or 70's profile :?:
If going for the vintage look, will it be 8 or 11 hole pickguard :?:
I suggest a multiply pickguard as the single ply's have a tendency to deform and allow dust and what not to enter the pickup/control cavity.
As far as the electronics.... Vol. + Tone.+ Tone or Master Vol. + Master Tone :?:
TBX Tone :?: SI Vol. switch :?: To allow those unusual combo of NB, NMB, as well as NM and MB and B or M or N :?: :?

You mentioned E-Bay but it is going to be critical to have the body and neck from the same source, so to avoid any misalignment and further delay's.
As far as Color or perhaps clear so the grain shows thru :?:

Finish is going to be a challenge in keeping it affordable. Is it feasible for one of us to finish the neck or/and body or is this going to be too much of a logistical problem.
Therefore you will need to arrange for this in your neck of the woods :?:
One of the many questions to decide upon before the start..

You think it sounds unlikey, huh?

Don't worry, we have ways of doing things round here. Take a look at this thread and then you'll have a better idea of what goes on:

Now, watch what happens next. We will have that ball...

Indeed! And you will remember the ten thousand more pages of material generated off-forum regarding that particular project too! Phew!

But wait - lots of the pictures now seem to be missing from that thread. Wha...?

Ceri...

OZRV is on another thread (which i noticed you've followed ) trying to upset the apple cart.
So with that in context " Disruptive Children Should Only Be Seen But Not Heard "
Let's get on as to how we are going to make this work for TGS since she is the primary focus in this particularly enjoyable thread.
