Well, it's still kind of iffy. The crack didn't want to fully come together after a month of being strapped up like that. I still intend to try to fix it, but it's been sort of low on the list of priorities lately. I'm probably going to have to use a splint for it, and find the right bar clamp.

Thanks for posting those beautiful pic's Texas! A "Texas" Stratocaster is a definite progression for Fender. No pressure  . Looking forward to updates.

Well, I've been waiting for about a week before my tech could drill the tuner holes larger to fit the machines I'll be using. (I didn't know what the size was at the time I ordered. So I got the smallest size since it would be easier to make them bigger than it would be to make them smaller.)

I was about to call the guy to do the refinishing... When I thought of something. Do I need the decals first, before it's finished or do they go on after? If I need them first, I have to find somewhere to get a custom decal made and order one soon.

If you can apply decals before final couple of clear coats, but make sure the decals are compatible with being sprayed over. some decals may orange peal.

Custom Decal....any hints as to the design or logo or.... :?:  :?:

Well, I was thinking that a Fender Lounge Logo on the back of the headstock might be appropriate considering the guitar's origins. :) On the front I'm debating about whether to slap a Fender logo on or not. Saying Fender would be cool, and that's what I'm leaning towards (I'd never sell it and it would be pretty obvious that it's not a Fender upon closer inspection). But then, if I can come up with a unique name for it then that might be cool too. With my Dad being a graphic artist, he can make pretty much anything look good.

As you well know this very subject of applying a " Fender " decal on a partscaster has been a hotly debated subject.
I did on my two Stratopartsters, but they are not intended to mimic an original yet do infringe on Fender's trademark even though like you I have no intention of selling either guitars. But all the parts are Fender originating from various guitars.....

I will be doing 2 builds over the winter and unless I actually rebuild one with an actual Fender neck and body, the Logo will be of a custom origin and not of Fender......
That being said, it's your choice but..... :?:

ZZDoc has thoroughly documented the legal aspects of this on this Forum so we cannot say we don't know where we stand on the Do or Do Not Apply.... :?

Bottom Line is that it is up to us all ( who know better ) on this Forum to say " No " Cannot apply a pirate Fender decal on a partscaster and pass it off as a genuine Fender.
If so then we have no right to be on this Forum since we are basically thumbing our nose's at our Forum Host.....Not very Ethical at the very least...

Yeah, that's a good point. Does anyone know where I could get a custom decal actually made? Is there a way of printing it from home or of somewhere that would create something from a design I provide?

I googled and there are a bunch of links, some to E-bay... others I cannot really tell how legit.
I recall not so long ago I wanted to inlay a photo of the more sensible half on my Stratopartster and a sign/ lettering company said they would have no problem replicating the photo to a pinup style stick on..They are probably the best way to have a decal made or a whole set....
I prefer being able to see firsthand examples so online may need to be vetted thru this Forum...I think there are older threads on this subject somewhere in the Forum Vaults..
Hopefully they are not on parchment paper...

Having done graphics and logo's for a small company back in 93 it isn't difficult and today I believe you can actually print your own from a Mac and printer setup. It's the software that is the question. Back then I used Letraset, very time consuming...

Any one else have any insight into doing this at home... :?: :?:

Texas, I searched the net for a company that makes sticky covers for the entire surface of a Stratocaster. I saw those large stickers and although hard to apply they're pretty cool but that was a few years ago. I will look again hoping that they're still in business. Most of the other companies that I found make the smaller stickers that only cover a part of the guitar surface An enlightening search though. :D

I've been trying to get a hold of the finishing guy for the past couple of days, but every time he calls I'm busy and every time I call him he's busy. I finally just sent him an email, so I should hear back from him soon.

I haven't really had to time to search for decals lately (hopefully I will have time tonight), but I've definitely decided to go all out custom with them. The more I think about it, the more the idea of slapping a Fender decal on the headstock doesn't appeal to me. It needs to be different and unique. :)

I agree with you, about the decal, TGS. Come up with something cool that's all yours. You'll have a very unique guitar!! 8)

Still brainstorming, thanks for the suggestions. :D

Dropped the unfinished body and neck off with the luthier today. Unfortunately I won't be there to watch the finishing because he lives a fair distance away. The good news though is that it should be done in three weeks. He's going to install a bone nut for me so when I take it home all that will be left it the assembly! And since I'll be doing most of that myself expect plenty on pics.
