Interesting, I'm glad I decided to check for new posts before dinner. One hour left. I wish I could know whether or not it has a 12" radius. Maybe it has gold hardware because it's a 2006 and that was Fender's 60th anniversary? I don't want to get another guitar that I 80% like, I want to get something I don't have any regrets about. :)

R you bidding on that TGS? I dont want to if you are?

Hi, just thought I''ed throw it out there, theres all kinds of strats out there in good and not so good condition for sale, it's finding what your looking for at the price you want to spend or willing to spend for it, and then decideing weather or not the guitar suits your needs, and from your post it seems your quiet able to do what ever you want with any guitar you end up with. And from the photos it looks like a 9.5r to me, did you happen to see srv advertised, kinda rough but workable and cheap. Hope you don't mind the my post. Thanks.

No problem. :) I appreciate it.

Well, the MIM ended up going for over $500 so I passed on it. I've been searching eBay and craigslist extensively trying to find a body. So far I haven't really found any deals. I'm still looking though.

And from your point of view it was the right decision. The Classic '50s have a 7.25" radius 'board. It is the Classic Player '50s (which this was not) that has the 9.5" fingerboard and the CP '60s that has the 12" one. And they all only have 21 frets too.

Still, nice guitars...

Anyhow. I suspect you have other irons in the fire, TGS...

Cheers - C

You think it sounds unlikey, huh?

Don't worry, we have ways of doing things round here. Take a look at this thread and then you'll have a better idea of what goes on:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=45290

Now, watch what happens next. We will have that ball...

Ceri...

OZRV is on another thread (which i noticed you've followed ) trying to upset the apple cart.
So with that in context " Disruptive Children Should Only Be Seen But Not Heard "
Let's get on as to how we are going to make this work for TGS since she is the primary focus in this particularly enjoyable thread.

To deviate for 1 minute..

Fair call....I was a bit bull headed and rude when i first appeared.....May i apoligize? I was not used to such a good bunch of people on the net....Only apple cart unsettllers in other forums so to speak.....My intentions with speaking up in this forum about TGS was only good....Enough of me.....

Good luck with your new TGSOCASTER!!!! TGS!!

I think we can forgive and forget. :D This forum has a much more easy going vibe than a lot of others do, so I can understand how you could jump to conclusions about it before getting to know it. I've been on some music forums where people treat you like you're an idiot if you try asking a question, and get into heated arguments about stupid things in every other thread. Thankfully you'll find very little of that here, which is one of the reasons this was my favorite forum even before this build got rolling.

Well, I just found this on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/Fender-USA-American-Vintage-57-Stratocaster-body-/230588270093?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item35b021c60d

Amercian '57 RI body in Surf Green, and the current price is at $112.50 (plus shipping). I was thinking more along the lines of sunburst/white/natural for this guitar, not really something that colorful. But if the price stays under the $300-$350 range closer to the time it ends, then I might consider bidding on it. I actually like Surf Green a lot, but I was thinking of going with a more understated look. I already have that purple one.

Hey TGS, I just checked out your link on that E-Bay surf green, it is likely the price will rise over the $300 mark before it's done.
Speaking of natural finish, at the bottom of the same page there is a " Swamp Body Natural Quilt Top for sale at the buy it now for $188.99 under $200 including free shipping.
It is finished in gloss, is undrilled as far as pickguard so that any pickguard will fit.
My suggestion would be to seriously consider that, " Yes " there is a HSH routing but I do not think that would be a problem once built.
The more I look at it the more ( IMHO ) I think this is a good starting point.
