I just switched cell phone providers to Verizon and got a new Droid phone. This is my first experience in the world of apps. There are so many its tough to sort through them to find something that might be worth downloading. Anyone have any favorites, music/guitar related or otherwise, they might recommend?

If you have a Iphone. Then I can fully recommend the Istrobe app. Possibly the handiest accurate tuner I've ever seen. Best £6 I ever spent.
Other than that, Dimarzio Planetwaves do a good series of app's.

I've all of them, and found em to be fantastic. And always in your pocket all the time.

For my iPhone I like cleartune and docs-to-go. Cleartune is a fairly sensitive chromatic tuner which I now have in my pocket wherever I go. Docs-to-go allows me to read, create and edit Microsoft Office documents and others. I can create and then email you a Word or Excel file from my phone as well as PDFs and a few others that don't concern me so I forget. File handling was always the one area where a Blackberry trumped an iPhone. The tide is turning. I think we'll now start seeing more business users choosing iPhone.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Ringdroid - Dominic Mazzoni developer of the uber-popular open-source sound/audio editing/recording program Audacity, now works for Google.

Google encourages employees to write their own programs and Ringdroid is a special gift from Mazzoni that keeps on giving.

He really knows how develop music editing programs. Ringdroid lets you record or edit music and turn it into a ringtone. It supports WAV, MP3 and 3GPP/AMR files.

I had a Verizon Droid. After 1 month I sold it , the email alerts were driving me crazy. I also had a life threatening experience and was not able to get a cell signal to dial 911..$120 a month and I couldn`t even call the police...

I'm wondering if I made a mistake because my old flip phone never failed me . I was never in an area were I couldn't make a call. All of the other things the new phone can do I'll mostly be doing at home on my computer!! :?

I've got 12 more days to make up my mind!!

FHop'

When I buy a phone, I won't do so to be tied into a contract, ever. I'd rather buy the handset seperately.
Despite the Iphone I bought, I don't buy phones for any other reason than to make phone calls. It's nice not to have to carry a mp3 player and a phone, but that was the only reason I bought it, and I needed a new Ipod as mine bust.
So all I do is get a prepay sim card, stick £20 a month on it. Which gets me 500 minutes, 500texts and 500mb web access. I only use the call time, and never fully use all that up.
Soon as some other provider offers better, I switch.
I won't be tied to any company, sod that.
