I just finished reading an article in the March Vintage Guitar Mag about the wonderful Guild S-100ND-commonly referred to as the SC(special Carved). The article sang the praises of this little gem as I have for years.I sent off an e-mail to V.G. talking about my experiences with this unsung great of the guitar world and immediately received a reply from editor Ward Meeker saying that he would be printing my letter in the April issue.
It's great to see that there are others besides me and Blackcatbone who love Guilds. The Fender corp. would do good by reissuing this gem and advertising it as the S.G./Les Paul slayer it is.

THE SG KILLER! and it isn't even close. An S-100 with vintage Guild HB-1 humbuckers in it will put a SG to shame.

I'd like to see Fender Reissue the SG, M75 Bluesbird and the Starfire. They sold really well in the late 90's-early 2000's when Guild reissued them and now with the name Fender behind them they would sell in numbers again. Not to mention these guitars have a following. I have been looking for a nice early 70's S-100 myself, not sure if I like the carved ones as much but I would love a walnut finished or red one.

Well when you decide you are ready to buy one, shoot me a message, I can help you find one in great condition for less or put you in touch with someone who can. The Guild brotherhood looks out for each other!

yessir, he is the most well known S-100 player...he plays both a vintage model and a reissue model.

Not that I'm in a position financially to be buying new gear, or anything really, but how much would one in decent condition go for?

Of the top of my head I can't say for sure as I don;t play bass but I will check with my guys over at the Guild forum and see what they say. There is a buy and sell section there and these basses pop up from time to time.

Thanks Blinkers.BTW the S-100s -if you're lucky enough to find one go for around $2,000 for a 70s model but the reissues can be had for around $800.There was an older model on Ebay a while back for $900 but it was turdhauled and I don't believe the pups were even original.I'd advise anyone to check out one of these rather than a Les Paul or S.G. as they have a much wider tonal range with the addition of the phase switch for the bridge pup and the pups are much, much hotter. The S-100 also sustains like a concert grand piano.Mine has the beautiful walnut stain on it even though the wood is mahogany,it looks very impressive dispite the "granola/hippie/country"type oak leaf and acorn carvings on it.

Man, I love the way these guitars look and no more so than in white! Never had the good fortune to play one, though but I'm with you all on hoping one day Guild sees fit to reissue them.

I am a Guild fanatic, typically you can find vintage 70's S-100's in very good condition for $900-1200. $1500-1700 tops if it is mint or a carved or more rare color.
