Hi,
I'm new to the forum...
I ordered a Fender Strat (Sienna Sunburst) back in late September 2010
through a dealer here in Canada and have been waiting
since then for it to arrive.
(it was out of stock at the store and had to be ordered in from
Fender)
I just checked again today and was told that Fender had
some issues with a paint supplier...and orders were backed
up/delayed because of that.
I have been debating with myself all day about whether I
should just choose a different "in stock" Strat at the store or
if I should wait it out with my original order.
Anyone else waiting on an order from Fender?

Yeah, I've been waiting on an Olympic White American Standard Strat since the beginning of December 2010. I am wondering if it is for the same reason. I was told that it would be in by the end of January so I am going to wait it out to see if that is in fact the case. If for some reason the guitar isn't in by then I will have to take a different course of action, maybe a different color? I don't know. I wasn't given a reason for the delay, simply that they were on backorder, now you have me wondering............

Do a search on the forum,this topic has been gone over many a time.
There are others that have been waiting far longer than September for delivery.It seems though that some are starting to trickle in here and there.Best of luck.I personally would wait it out for the sienna sunburst...I love that color

I would wait till the one you want arrives. I have just ordered a 60th Telecaster due to start shipping in March hopefully it will be sooner rather than later for. You have waited this long already so it would be a shame to give up now and who knows you may get the call tomorrow!!!

Yeah, i'd really like to get the Sienna that I originally
ordered...but was thinking, if there are folks who placed
their order months before I did and still haven't received
it yet, that would likely mean my order is probably not going
to be arriving any time soon.

Was considering getting the 3 color sunburst that's in stock,
but I do like the Sienna a lot better.
It would be a bummer to switch my order, then a couple weeks
later the Sienna arrives in stock again.

Basically i'm just trying to get an idea of how backlogged things are.
That's the worst part...not knowing if it will be another couple weeks
or 3-4 months.

(the original delivery estimate back in September was 6 weeks)

Did you get your Sienna or did you opt for another axe?

I waited until March for my 60th tele and when it arrived it was damaged in transit so I had to wait another three weeks for a replacement, all came good in late April. The shop were I get my gear from has just had to wait weeks for delivery from Fender in the Uk as they were waiting for the final guitar in his order to arrive. He must have waited 2 weeks at least for this one guitar to arrive before they shipped the whole order many of which had been ready to ship for weeks including my new MIM strat.

unless the color is super rare/sweet, there is no way in hell i would wait like that. just pick a different color and go jam.
