The only thing that make it a Bonamassa guitar IS the cosmetics. Otherwise it's pretty much an Epi Goldtop with Gibson pups in it.

So just buy a non -sig model Epi LP model for less then right?

+1 about the deep blues and the rest of that paragraph, cept for well I like KWS, not a huge fan but he is very talented. I enjoy the music of a lot of these younger generation bluesmen. But like you, I just dig back as far as I can with the roots of the blues and respect that way more.

If you don't like it don't buy it.

These things get made because people want em.

I don't think i would ever buy a guitar because it was a signature model. It would have to be a guitar i wanted ignoring the endorsement, and it would have to be a package of options i couldn't get at a cheaper price otherwise. I came close on a EJ strat, even though i only like a couple of songs by him. But I really really liked the guitar, and I still don't see any other guitar by Fender at that price point (either off the line, or CS,) that I like nearly as much.

However, Other people place more importance on their idols, and if they want to spend money on these guitars I have no problem with it, as long as it isn't my money.

I don't like the relic/roadworn thing as a rule, but I don't care if some one else does.

In the end it comes down to the right guitar for the right person. if the person buying it is happy that's all that matters.

The thing that aggravates me is we all pay down the line for all these choices. Instead of having a few well made variations of say a Strat or Tele, we have what seems like hundreds. Too many choices drive the cost up on a product that in many cases isn't that well made. To pay extra to have someone beat up a guitar for you and do it on an assembly line where they are all worn pretty much exactly the same is IMO laughable. It's like buying jeans with holes already in them. LOL I scratch my own stuff and wear holes in my jeans myself.

Don't get a whole lot deeper than Son House and Charlie Patton. Actually the Bonamassa GT is pretty cheap. 600 bucks with Gibby pups and hardware. They're only making 600 though.

Lonnie Johnson is another one of my favorites, he was born right around the same time as Patton and really was phenomenal. Skip James came along 10 years later but that guy was roots to the core.

I didn't realize they were that cheap, especially for a limited run of 600. Would love to just play one.

I still listen to tons of these guys, Blind Willie Johnson, Mississippi John Hurt,Tampa Red, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Bukka White's incredible. Man, they're all incredible. I wish more young people dug back to see where everything came from. The Blues is deep and from the heart with a real story and life experience behind it. It's American musical history.
