Interesting. I kinda liked the spiderweb one. Not sure something like that would end up reaching huge success. But it's interesting for sure.

Old news in the UK.

Rick Parfitt of Status Quo funded the idea. John Hornby Skewes distribute it. Been around in the UK for a good few years now. (introduced around 2004, I think)

These things are definitely a waste of cash...but they're kind of cool, if you have an old guitar that looks like crap and you don't care if you ruin the original finish.
