It's not lyin ears, it not believing a horsehole who obviously knows nothing about operating a guitar amp of any manufacturer. I can't even get those sadass sounds out of my Rebel 20.

Here's a better demo of what the Rebel can do and this is still just the tip of the iceberg.

Maybe the "Tone King" should stick with "Guitar Hero" instead. :?

The cleaner sounds were a lot nicer. The gain sounds were no better than that other guy. Just as mushed and lacking definition from over use of the preamp gain. Despite Guitarworlds over use of outboard eq.
I just ran the pc through my hifi to make sure it wasn't the computer speakers.
Doesn't anyone know how to demonstrate a amp?

Some can demonstrate amps better than others. I don't go into high gain territory. That tone king clown lacks any understanding of what tone controls actually do. I even put a NOS JAN Phillips 5751 in V1 to lower the gain a little. HiFi speakers don't cut it either. I spent a couple hours in a room with the Rebel before I brought it home. So far no demo actually sounds like it does live. I like the amp and don't care about other peoples opinions because we all have different tastes. My big thing is reliability and so far after a more than a year of my abuse, it's still rock solid. That Tone King guy is seriously a joke.

Somebody needs to. I can't understand the seeming infatuation with meltdown level gain. I like lots of drive just as much as the hairiest of greebo's at certain times. There are certain rules about getting it though. I can't figure why anybody thinks you can set a good clean sound then just wallop loads of gain ontop of it and have a good driven sound. I have yet to hear a single amp that does channel switching convincingly, never mind cope with that kind of stress.

Supro. I plugged the PC into my stereo to make sure I was getting as authentic a sound as possible comparing the two. If Bang&Oulfsen don't cut it then I don't know what will. No other amp manufacturer has a problem coming through on em via CD  (satire intended, offence not intended).
Yeah it's never the same as having the amp in the room, but you don't record amps, particularly high gain sounds, by setting to what sounds good from the cab. You set to what comes through the studio monitors, which I believe Guitarworld should have done. As should the ToneFling.

Niki don't get me started on the gain thing. Scooped mids is another pet peeve of mine too. :?
Fact is, on CD's even if you plug straight into an amp with no reverb or effects, the recording engineer will add something to your tone. With amp demos, I look for explanations as to what the tone controls can possibly do and what effect they may have. That way when I go look at an amp I'm interested in, I'm a little better informed as to what things may do. Pretty much to get a head start. King of the Asstone drops the ball on all counts. I play live more than I record anymore so a live sound is what I'm most interested in. I simple, no frills player playing simple no frills Blues that just wants a great sounding reliable amp. That's what I found with the Rebel.
