You're using nylons on electric bass?

I ask because you'll often see people claim that nylon strings don't work with electric guitar pickups. Yet I experimented with em as a kid a couple of times. Whilst I did have to turn my amp way up, they were picked up by the pickups.

Nylon Strings on a bass are like taking already totally dead and used up bass strings and then soaking them in heated/melted wheel bearing grease and hanging/cooling them and putting them back on with grease packed and congealed in the windings. Absolutely HORRID tone with virtually no sustain whatsoever. Fundamentals only. No harmonics. Notes ring approximately ½ second in total. They don't even thump. It's more like a thub.

Dull, thudding, lifeless, useless.
Stupid.
No redeeming qualities.

One man's food is another man's poison. I tried them on my bass about 25 years ago. I couldn't get them off that guitar fast enough.

Aren't y'all referring to Nylon cored strings, wrapped in a metallic outer coating ?
If so Then they really are not nylon strings in the strictest of definitions.
