I can't belive that 26 years later, someone has a problem with Money For Nothing. The Canadian Broadcast Standards Council has a problem with the lyric "the little fa@@ot with the earing and the make up". I understand that this word can be used as a derogatory term, but I'm sure there is a whole lot more music with worse lyrics than that. And it took 26 years to ban this song??

The ugly head of political correctness strikes again.

I sure does seem like a delayed reaction, 26 years?

And in the US, certain publishers are now re-printing many literary classics by such notables as Mark Twain and J.D. Salinger that have been edited to render them "politically-fit for human consumption".

Humans will never know where they are going if they do not understand where they've been.

Sad......truly sad.

What has always amazed me is that the censorship crowd never picked up on the obvious allussion to oral sex in Lou Reed's Wild Side after all these years and then a simple lyric like Dire Straits used gets banned-this PC/Censorship crowd should pull their heads out of the 19th century.

I'm afraid that not only in the US are "they" re-printing Twain -and others-, but also in Spain (at least). As a Primary School teacher, I can't believe it. Luckyly, here in Spain there are some good writers who are working in RAE (a sort of dedicated NGO to preserve the Spanish language) and they disagree with that kind of people...

Banning a Dire Straits song sounds like if someone had smoked something strange and decided to do stupidities (is it a correct word? remember I'm just a 2n year English student)
