and it sounds sweet. played on it for a couple of hours with the strat, tele. and the gretsch. Not bad at all. nice and chimey with single coils and pretty good with the tv jones filtertrons too. Not much breakup at all at volumes humans can take without too much pain. Now if I can find a contemporary extension cab to match...

Dragged it over to my amp tech for a look-see inside. It would take me forever to see if it had been modded in any way and I was a bit curious. No mods! All 100% original! When I get home tonight I'll download the pics I took of the gutty-works. He was surprised I got it for $840 and offered to buy it on the spot. No sale.

Yeah, you'd be crazy to sell that, #1 it's a freakin awesome amp and #2 its value should steadily increase as 66 twins are not getting any easier to come by. Glad to hear it's 100% original, just think you bought the real thing cheaper than the reissue. I didn't think that was possible ^^

A clean unmodded '66 Twin lists for between $2,200 & $2,600 so you did real good on that little beauty.

well, it's not really what I would call "clean". structurally intact, yes, and the front isn't so bad, but the back is kinda butt-ugly. Some big tears in the tolex and a few deep gouges and cuts in the back cover and four cigar burns on the top are pretty prominent. At least nothing is loose and all the joints are tight like prom night!

He wanted 1400 for it, but the fat roll of 20's made him twitchy. When I told him what new twins were going for and he looked online at MF he took the roll of 20's. I'm going to have to do some penance before the tubes let all the magic smoke out.

ya gotta work folks sometimes.
i find that people are asking way to much for some of the stuff they have.
when that happens you have to prepare to walk away.
