Gentlemen I have seen the future and that future is... Garlic brea..oops wrong thread.. :) Looks like a winner to me waycool nice and neat don't know if we'll see builders retiring their soldering irons en masse though, handy bit of kit if your constantly tinkering under the scratchplate looking to swap out pickups etc though

I'm sticking to soldering wires, it sounds so much cooler than screwing wires. :P

its not a new connector bill, just a new way to use them.
plug and play pickups.

I'll pass and stick with soldering. Besides, from a mechanical view point, they don't look like they will last very long or tolerate any kind of heavy handedness. YMMV.

I just would stay with old school solder... these connecters have always been a source of trouble for me... Just my opinion...

I clicked the link and got a page saying that product is no longer available. From what I've gathered from this discussion though, it sounds like a cool idea. The guitar modding business would go through the roof IMO if parts were all plug and play and therefore easily swappable. Wires and soldering are enough to scare a lot of people off the idea.

its like anything else tim. for the most part, folks are afraid of change.
some people will take on the idea with open arms while others will battle it
kicking and scratching. i can see pro's and con's on the idea. me i'll outfit one of my better guitars with them just to see if they are worth having. me, im open to changes.

I think I'll wait and see some reviews on this first. From the look of them in the pics I can see, they seem to have a flimsy look to them. For me, it depends on the cost, durability, etc.. Otherwise, I just don't have a problem soldering. After a while of doing it, it just doesn't feel like much of a task to me.

Not afraid of such a change, but I think I'll wait a bit on the idea. Sometimes these things come about, and later, changes get made for a better improved product.

Good. This needs to expand industrywide. I've never understood why guitars never moved to a PNP system. For those concerned about the stability of plugs v. soldering, let me tell you before I went special warfare I was a Fire Controlman in the US Navy, working on precision electronics, things way more complex than simple guitar electronics, and the VAST majority of components, unless they were soldered on a PCB, were plugs and jacks and they took WAY more of a beating than any guitar will ever see. It's guitarists stubborness that is holding the system back, and I think it's good for the industry. Yes, luthiers are going to lose business from people who don't want/know how to solder, but I know I personally would experiment WAY more if I didn't have to break out the solder everytime I wanted to change something out. I think a system like this could lead to way more gear sales, and way more tinkering around. Which would only drive competition and development farther. It's a fantastic development.

i think seymour has these well though out. like mentioned above the conector isnt a new design by any means. time will tell though. like you said theres usually a redesign
on things like this just incase there are any bugs ya know. i think it will be a good thing.
